EXAMINE YOUR BODY’S RELATIONSHIP WITH GLUTEN

Gluten is a sticky protein most often found in grains (wheat, rye, barley, triticale); its elasticity makes up the gooey texture of breads and doughs. Gluten is found in cereal, bread, pasta and many other food products. In fact, you can find it in salad dressings, vinegars, spices, soups, flavored teas, candies, beer, processed foods, condiments, and many other products in your kitchen. But did you know gluten is also likely hanging out in your bathroom?! Gluten is used as a thickening agent and added to many personal hygiene products like toothpaste, facewash, body wash, soaps, shaving creams, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, and makeup – Yes, it is even in mascara and lipstick! In fact, it’s also used in many household products like cleaners, laundry detergents, drywall, wallpaper paste, and even the thin-set used to lay tile! Gluten is also taking up residence in your medicine cabinet. Odds are you might be suffering from GI distress or brain fog, migraines, skin issues, joint pain… all things possibly caused by gluten. But get this, the very medications and supplements you may be taking to combat such symptoms are likely full of gluten (used as a binder). You are actually fueling the inflammation fire rather than addressing the root cause, the gluten itself!

Did you know stopping gluten may be more difficult than you think? Some people's body's develop an addictive affect from eating gluten. Their body's react to the gluteomorphin, an opioid peptide that is formed during digestion of the gliadin component of the gluten protein. Breaking the gluten habit is much like breaking an addiction for these people, withdrawal symptoms can occur.

So how do you know what your body’s relationship with gluten is? Many people learn to listen to their body and find they feel better when going gluten-free. But does this solve the problem? Does this uncover the damage caused by gluten? Does this heal the body and restore it to homeostasis? NO. It’s simply a way to guess if gluten is an issue and possibly alleviate some of the symptoms. But what about the symptoms you can’t see? What about the neurological affects? What about the intestinal permeability? How do we discover exactly what gluten has done to us so we then follow clinical protocol to arrest the culprit (gluten) and solve the problem (intestinal damage, leaky gut, leaky brain) and feel better long-term? How do we stop taking medications to mask symptoms (which by the way typically works for a bit and then it doesn’t so we take more meds, or different meds…)? How do we get off the hamster wheel and find our way through the maze of gluten-related disorders?

WE TEST, DON’T GUESS

They provide solutions using functional medicine testing to get to root causes. Health Coach For You, LLC is proud to partner with Vibrant Wellness. Their clinical team and lab reps are superior to none. It’s always a pleasure to talk with clinicians when reviewing difficult cases. They offer continuous support and dietary recommendations for patients needing to make changes to address their health issues. They make the testing process simple to follow and as a Certified Gluten Practitioner, I can help you order your tests, review your results, guide you through next steps and partner with you via a coaching model that transitions you into wellness, bridging the gap between healthcare and wellness is more than my motto, it’s my mission. Many clients come to me after they have been told they are not allergic to wheat, or don’t have Celiac Disease but yet they know that something is wrong when they eat wheat or gluten. The Vibrant Wellness Wheat Zoomer test offers a comprehensive antibody detection that will simultaneously identify any of the following conditions: Celiac Disease, gluten ataxia (neurological), wheat allergy, dermatitis/axzema (skin) and intestinal permeability.

SO WHO SHOULD GET TESTED?

1 in 7 Americans suffer from some type of wheat and/or gluten sensitivity and 1 in 5 Americans suffer from autoimmune diseases. Here’s the kicker… Gluten adversely affects over 200 autoimmune diseases! So, who should test to discover their body’s relationship with gluten?

Anyone suffering from:

  • Autoimmune Diseases
  • Digestive discomfort/IBS
  • Low Vitamin D levels
  • Brain Fog – difficulty concentrating
  • Fatigue
  • Leaky Gut Syndrome
  • Skin inflammation (exzema, dermatitis)
  • Chronic headaches
  • Weight gain/loss
  • Joint pain or numbness in legs, arms, or fingers

Symptoms are warning flags that something else is going on, ignoring them can lead to complications in health and a compromised immune system. Simply taking medications to alleviate the symptoms doesn’t address the underlying issue that caused the symptoms in the first place. And let’s not be naïve, nothing is not without side effects. Those medications you’re taking (yes, the ones likely filled with gluten), they are not always working for your good. (Ever listen to the long-winded disclaimer at the end of those pharmaceutical ads?!) Think of addressing symptoms as only seeing the top of the iceberg… the massive base underneath the surface is what holds all the answers. You have to take a deep dive to discover what standard testing alone cannot. Are you tired of treating symptom after symptom? Are you sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? Are you done guessing what the issues could be and ready to tackle what the issues are?
