Our commitment to sustainability

Inspired by Suntory’s Yatte Minahare spirit, which encourages our people to dream big, the business, the business has grown from a small local juice company to a major trans-Tasman beverage provider.

At Frucor Suntory, we believe that our business has a critical role to play in protecting the world around us and making a positive impact. We are guided by Suntory’s remarkable 120-year legacy and our purpose to inspire the brilliance of life, by creating rich experiences for people, in harmony with nature.

Sustainability continues to sit at heart of business and our values of Growing for Good, Yatte Minahare, and Giving Back to Society provide clear pathways to help us achieve our vision and build a sustainable future.

As we embark on a new chapter of growth in Oceania, we can reflect on how much we have achieved through our sustainability commitments. Despite numerous challenges across the global marketplace, we have stayed focused on protecting the environment, empowering consumers, and ensuring responsibility through our value chain.

When we started our sustainability journey, we set targets for 2030 and have made significant progress across all areas of the business. Highlights include our commitment to renewable energy, light-weighting our packaging, the implementation of more sustainable equipment and retail displays, and sourcing materials closer to home.

Our people and communities continue to inspire us by driving for more initiatives that give back. As part of Suntory’s Mizuiku water education programme (check out our video above) we partner with Keep New Zealand Beautiful on its ‘Upstream Battle’ citizen science programme to teach Kiwi kids about the water cycle and the importance of not allowing litter to enter the environment and waterways.

Our sustainable future

Looking ahead, we are now preparing for the mid-2024 opening of our new facility in Ipswich, Queensland. Our new site will be critical to the delivery of our ‘One Suntory Vision’ as Frucor Suntory partners with Beam Suntory to create a new multi-beverage powerhouse - Suntory Oceania.

Our new Queensland facility, opening mid-2024. 14km of solar panels will be installed on the roof to power the site!

As we create Suntory Oceania, we are dedicated to developing a comprehensive sustainability strategy that addresses critical topics for our business and stakeholders. We take pride in the direction we are heading and the opportunities that lie ahead in creating a more sustainable future for our people, customers, communities, and the planet.
