Threads 📈 Twitter 📉

1.Threads hits 💯million users

Since its debut last week, Threads has reportedly surpassed 100 million sign-ups, overtaking ChatGPT’s record in less than five days. Data from Similarweb also revealed that traffic on Twitter is down 11% compared to the same days in 2022. Because users can sign up with an existing Instagram account, Threads also has the potential to continue growing internationally, as it has yet to launch in Europe. Is this the beginning of the end of Twitter?

2. Twitter blocks links to Threads 🚫

Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino has pushed back at reports claiming that Twitter traffic is “tanking” as a result of the launch of Instagram Threads. Nonetheless, Twitter users reported selective blocking of Threads links in search results, potentially indicating an effort to limit discussions around the rapidly expanding Threads platform.

3. 👻Snapchat 🤝 🔗🌳(Linktree)

Snapchat is partnering with the link-in-bio platform Linktree to enable the ability to house links in user bios. Available now to the general public, the link-in-bio tool will also allow creators to show off their Snapchat profile on their Linktree page with a social icon and custom text button.

4. Meta’s Avatar-Time? 🎥

Meta announced this week that users can now use their avatars to answer and make video calls on Instagram and Messenger. Aimed at those who are not “camera-ready,” the new feature enables users to make and take video calls where you and others are looking and talking to each other, without actually seeing each other.

5. RedTok? TikTok partners with Redbox

Redbox announced a new deal with TikTok that allows the DVD rental company to feature popular content from the social media platform on more than 3,000 Redbox kiosks nationwide. Additionally, brands will have the opportunity to buy advertising that runs alongside TikTok content.
