How to Get Ahead in Carbody and Hang-on Parts Production

Want to reduce postprocessing, eliminate filler, and prevent cracking while at the same time delivering the speed, positional precision, and weld quality required for autobody and hang-on parts production?

The 3D Remote Laser Welding Head RLSK enables even the most complex weld paths and brings the following advantages:

  • Accomplish zero-gap welding of galvanized steel without spatter or weld pores.

  • Avoid cracks when welding aluminum 6000 alloys - without filler wire.

  • Weld high-strength steels at rapid feed rates with no subsequent cold cracking.

Our RLSK processing heads provide the essential elements of speed, positional accuracy, and weld excellence necessary for autobody, powertrain, and hang-on parts production. Additionally, they meet the rigorous demands of e-mobility assembly, including battery and motor joining tasks.

Its 3D capability enables the remote laser processing head to accurately position the beam along the robot's high-speed movements, resulting in a laser welding process with maximum efficiency. Watch the video to get more insights.

How To Get Ahead In Laser Brazing And Wire Welding

Do you want to get high-quality brazes and weld joints consistently, even on complex shaped parts, with a tool that is still easy to configure?

HIGHtactile is a reliable production tool for brazing and aluminum wire welding in automotive assembly – including roofs, trunk lids, and rain channels – as well as e-mobility manufacturing processes like battery box assembly and joining dissimilar materials.

The processing head can be used with a wide range of fiber-delivered lasers, wire types, and process monitoring systems. It combines advanced sensor and servo technology to deliver precise force control, with an interface that enables rapid setup.

For welding with filler wire and brazing, HIGHtactile applies pressure to the wire along the joint between parts. By measuring the forces applied, it detects changes in joint position as it travels along the seam.

How To Get Ahead In Welding Aluminum And Copper

Deep copper welding with infrared laser has been a challenge in the past due to copper’s high reflectivity and low absorption for this wavelength. This can be overcome by using a high-brightness beam to quickly change the materials' properties at the beginning of the process.

Together with the new low numerical aperture (NA) version of the HighLight FL-ARM fiber laser, the HIGHmotion 2D with its additional lower magnification option achieves high brightness, focused laser spots over a best-in-class scan area size with minimal focal shift. This enables deep welds required for e-mobility at fast processing speeds.

The new lower magnification HIGHmotion 2D processing head maintains all the capabilities of this industry-proven laser welding scanner, including positioning precision and high-power stability. It produces high-quality welds on even the most challenging materials – including aluminum and copper.

This approach provides a larger process window, meaning a more stable, robust, and repeatable process.

There is a new approach to accomplish deep copper welding of EV components such as busbars with an infrared laser. Read all about it in our blog about Faster Deep Penetration Welding.

The HIGHmotion 2D works with conventional and ARM fiber lasers up to 8 kW CW, over field sizes of 251 mm x 372 mm.
