What Does Pride Month Mean to You?

Well, we are halfway through pride month and we would love to hear from you as what new things have you learned this time around whether as an individual or as an Employer?

Maybe you’ve been shocked by recent news of your wizard writing childhood hero, although then again, maybe you’ve seen the wonderful support for the trans community from the wizard himself?

Perhaps someone at your work has been empowered during pride month to come out and be their true selves?

Then again, maybe it has just occurred to you that gender and sexuality are completely separate matters?

Or simply that you now have a better understanding of the diversity that is everywhere and you are now ready to be embracing to those around you.

Some people may believe it is just a ‘marketing gimmick’ when companies slap pride colours over their company logo for one month of the year. Guilty as charged!

However, joking aside, it is much more than that. It really is.

Firstly, it helps demonstrate that not only it is acceptable, but that it is actually welcome for staff to be themselves regardless of any gender or sexual orientation they choose. Not only that, but a recent study also found ‘It’s becoming clear that when workers can bring their authentic selves to work, they are more productive and engaged’ and I can attest to that.

Just think; happier staff, more productivity, higher staff retention, and all at no cost to a company! It almost sounds too good to be true.

Secondary, it creates a big impact to educate the rapidly decreasing number of ‘haters’ that it is not acceptable to discriminate and encourage those to enlighten themselves. A lack of education and miss information in the media has a lot to answer for.

This year people are more apart than ever due to Covid-19, so we’d love to hear support below of any good experiences or lessons you’ve learned so far this month. Maybe you have some words of wisdom for any companies reading this?

Or, perhaps you would just like to show your support whether you are an ally or part of the community? If so, click that you ‘love it’ or ‘celebrate’ it below.

Plus if you get a moment, then why don't you ‘follow us’ on our company page.
