Who we are - bitter realisation

What a crazy last one month, all of us around the world have witnessed. From learning about Corona to experiencing it around us, to fearing if the person standing next sneezes, and tracking numbers hourly, we have done it all. What we missed in all these is, being responsible.

When it all began in China, there was no threat envisaged, thus as a world, a country, a citizen, and a (responsible) human being, we failed ourselves. Many theories and contemplations have been floated around, however nothing has been concluded as yet. And, as usual, we followed our own intent, i.e. "I can not be contracted, and I am immune". We continued to travel, continued to neglect the impact, continued to hide our medical conditions. And, what not?

India comprises of approx 30% population living in tier-1 towns and rest 70% in smaller towns and villages. And, see, Pareto has come into effect, however in a negative sense. People from these population, causing most damage. All (supposedly) educated and responsible people traveled abroad, ignored indicators, advisories and kept business as usual activities, work and thus earnings at core. And, now, the entire country faces a threat, which can/has affect on 1000s and millions of lives.

Here we stand today, all united, distanced, in panic and isolated. All odd even transport rules that were once objected, pollution indicators that were always ignored, supreme court decisions that were defied, everything is looping back to us, and mother nature is having the last cry (NOT LAUGH). The entire world is seeing something that was never even dreamt off. Once in a century pandemic is here. More than outwards, it is inward; today, it makes all of us feel still, helpless, self questioning, lost, tied at home, and clueless about what tomorrow holds for us.

Remember all the power we have shown to the peers, poor people, police, defying all the rules of being (responsible) Human??? Where are the naxals, thieves, goons, dacoits? Are they finding any space in newspaper? At the end, do we know now, how powerful we are? We all have probably realised, we are no one. Birds are taking on the skies, animals are finding it peaceful on streets, and we, humans, are tied to the pillars, seeing our families after ages. Have you played any board games yet with the kids? If not, you won't be able to keep it away for long. What more, all the hunger to earn is seemingly shelved. People are wondering and realising, how life without work and being at home is like? What if we don't have any job left tomorrow, many are already facing this, as I write (check Marriott).

Today, we realise how ignorance, self defiance and "Chalta hai", "Kuch nahi hoga" attitude has hit us back. We are eyeing towards a disaster, and maybe "Death"! Something that was unprecedented and not expected, has happened. Businesses are/must be working on survival and sustainability aspects. Not sure, what the future holds for us, but LEARNINGS UNLIMITED. I just hope, we take some learning from this COSTLY experience. Being human has been a gift, let's not ruin it. Mother nature has given us a big shout out, let's reciprocate. May the roads be as clean as now. May the people remain much responsible as they are, now. May the people remain grounded and realise, "WHO WE ARE", and what we owe to the nature and surrounding. Just think, what if, we would have been "PROACTIVE", and not "REACTIVE".

Kapil Sharma well thought of sir. I too believe proactive prevention action and step by step measures be taken well before the disaster becomes critical.....

True, reactive actions are responding to things flowing naturally. I have seen many leaders to refrain from making people reasonably alert (they think, it will be a panic button). Reactive actions are are mostly, kind of disaster recovery, after the disaster knocks our door or entered our homes. I personally, always support proactive preventive actions (step by step) than waiting for the disaster to hit.
