Why Ford Is Making It Easier For Its Commercial Vehicle Customers To Help Maximize Profits and Productivity—Even With Non-Ford Vehicles

Whether a commercial vehicle fleet operator manages ten, 500 or more vehicles, they share a common mission: to relentlessly attack costs, increase the uptime of their vehicles and to improve the productivity of their employees.

To that end, Ford is laser-focused on improving the connected services of today’s commercial vehicles, as well as those of the battery-electric commercial vehicles that will soon be the norm.

 Ford announced this week that we, as the market leader in commercial vehicles, are expanding Ford Telematics to support all makes and models of commercial vehicles. Why? While we would like to think that all of our customers would have a fleet that is 100% Ford, we know that is not the case, and we need to earn that right. We want to be our commercial customers’ best partner, and that also means providing the best possible fleet management tools across their entire fleet.

Telematics is a critical tool for fleet operators for monitoring productivity of their vehicles, controlling total cost of ownership, coaching driver behavior and managing compliance. With Ford Telematics’ expanded functionality, fleet managers will be able to analyze all of their fleet vehicles in Ford’s easy-to-use dashboard – including the ability to improve uptime, monitor performance and plan maintenance services. It has the potential of adding up to greater profits for fleet owners.

 As part of our commitment to our commercial customers, we also announced a new complimentary product, Ford Telematics Essentials. Designed to offer access to vehicle health insights such as odometer readings, diagnostic trouble code and information around oil life, engine hours and recalls. Ford Telematics Essentials can help every Ford fleet, regardless of size, get the most out of their vehicles with easy access to telematics insights.
