Writing the VCA Story

Writing the VCA Story

Our family of hometown animal hospitals – and the support offices making sure we stay up and running – is full of doctors, technicians, kennel assistants, client service representatives and many more committed to the best care, the best team environment and the best experience for our patients and clients. And as we moved into 2022, we felt it was time to be clear on what we stand for.

VCA is taking care of the future of veterinary medicine. It’s how we support A Better World for Pets™.

I’m a second-generation veterinarian, raised on spending afternoons in the Hospital and holidays cleaning cages. The idea of taking care of the future of veterinary medicine is deeply personal to me. It’s what I want to stand for. I view it like this: sure, VCA has an opportunity to leave the profession in a better place than we found it. But there’s more to that. As the largest veterinary services provider, we’ve got an obligation.

Today, VCA’s world-class care is attributable to our world-class talent. And to encourage our Associates to stay with VCA and grow in the profession, we have a responsibility to keep investing in industry-leading benefits, mental health & well-being support, and continuing education and training. When we take care of each other, we take better care of the pets and people in our Hospitals and beyond.

Our Associates are among the most skilled and capable professionals out there. They’re always finding ways to make improvements – introducing techniques like hands-free radiology or more targeted diagnostics for cancer care – that benefit our VCA patients and teams, and importantly, the entire field of veterinary medicine.

Being committed to the future of veterinary care means looking years down the road. We’ve partnered with Vet Set Go to provide hands-on experience and the educational resources for young people interested in veterinary medicine. Think about it: your hometown technician or veterinarian might have made the choice to care for pets at age 13. That’s dedication.

There’s more coming from VCA and our teams this year. The future of veterinary medicine is in good hands. We see it being powered by the care, capability, and connection our Associates provide at their hometown hospitals every day.

Dr. Todd Lavender I applaud any effort to improve the future of veterinary medicine. As part of your "obligation to do more", will you consider ending the non-compete for all VCA veterinarians? I'm sure you're aware of the negative impacts the non-compete has on a veterinarian's professional and personal wellbeing. I look forward to hearing your plans on this and hope you'll support my effort to end the veterinary non-compete. Please feel free to sign and share this petition with your associates. change.org/endtheveterinarynoncompete #endtheveterinarynoncompete
