You'll shoot your eye out!

A Christmas Story is hands down my favorite Christmas movie. My family and I watch 24 hours straight of it on Christmas day. It is one of my fondest memories of Christmas. If you are not familiar with the film, I suggest you begin a new tradition IMMEDIATELY. This Indianapolis based story follows a young boy, Ralphie Parker, who spends the bulk of his time dodging a bully and thinking about his dream Christmas gift, a Red Ryder air rifle.

Ralphie had tunnel vision towards this goal. Teachers would tell him no. Santa even told him no. Not a great thing to say to a kid when they pick what cookies will left out as he squeezes down the chimney wishing he hadn't eaten so many cookies at the last house. Spoiler alert, on Christmas day Ralphie’s smile was eye to eye as he held his new prized possession. Now I am not saying if your kids want a gift bad enough they should get it. However, there is something to be said about never letting someone deter your attitude about your dream.

Successful people are not people who have things handed to them or were in the right place at the right time. They do not wait for opportunities to happen to them. They go out there and find the opportunity. When someone discourages them, they pivot and they take a new path to their goal.
