As women make up only 35% of STEM graduates, let’s meet Rachael Naoum - CSWE, the SOLIDWORKS passionate who inspires young girls exploring STEM careers. 🌟 Rachael Naoum’s love for learning began in childhood with sewing lessons from her grandmother and extended to mastering martial arts, music, and physics. However, it was her scientific studies that truly captivated her. During an introductory Computer-Aided Design course, she discovered SOLIDWORKS, opening up new horizons. 🚀 Combining all of her passions from art to scientific subjects, she has found her way in mechanical engineering and now volunteers as a tutor for high school students at the MassRobotics Jumpstart Fellowship. This program provides technical training, mentoring, and access to professional networks for high school girls from diverse backgrounds. 👩🔧📚 Through her efforts, Rachael is helping these students explore and pursue STEM careers. 🔬✨ Profiles like Rachael’s are essential to inspire young girls to explore STEM studies and understand their value and importance in the workplace. Middle and high school teachers in Djerba, Tunisia have made impressive strides this summer, dedicating their time to mastering STEM concepts and developing a STEM Education program. They completed SOLIDWORKS training, with 160 trained, 55 certified, through 25 sessions and 700 instructional hours! This initiative, supported by ABBK PhysicsWorks | SOLIDWORKS & 3DEXPERIENCE Tunisia & West Africa, will enhance teaching and learning of engineering skills across Tunisia and West Africa. 3DEXPERIENCE Edu was thrilled to attend the Farnborough Airshow! 🌟 On the final day, we were able to attend an insightful panel discussion on “Upskilling the workforce”. During this panel, academia and industry specialists Joris Melkert from Delft University of Technology , Professor Iain Gray from Cranfield University , Tamara Monti from Dassault Systèmes, Debbie Kempton Engineering from UK Atomic Energy Authority and Jonty Deeley-Williamson from UKBIC brought their insights on why upskilling the workforce is crucial for aerospace, defense, and new energy industries to thrive in the future. 🚀🔋 The session ended with the presentation of the Arkwright Project UK's top scholarship program, which inspires the next generation of engineers to dream big and make a difference. Following this, we welcomed Séverine Trouillet FRSA , CEO of STEM Learning, who discussed the talent pipeline in STEM subjects and how STEM Learning and Dassault Systèmes are collaborating to strengthen this pipeline. Overall, this was a great time to reflect on the WEF’s Future Jobs Report 2023 which highlighted the need to upskill the workforce in Model-Based Systems Engineering, battery technology, the fusion industry, and digital manufacturing and design.
