Dedicated to the physical, mental, and social health of all children around the world

About us

The Global Health team at the American Academy of Pediatrics is dedicated to the physical, mental, and social health of all children around the world. Our team collaborates with AAP members and partner pediatric societies across the globe on initiatives spanning education, training, and program implementation. AAP Global also advocates directly to the U.S. government and globally with international partners for policies and programs that will help all children reach their full potential. AAP Global proudly hosts two active Sections for members as a platform for professional development and international networking: The Section on Global Health (SOGH) strives to promote and lead efforts to help children throughout the world attain optimal physical, mental and social health and well-being through high quality education and training, effective partnerships and collaborations, and staunch advocacy for the world's children. More than half of their 1,000 members are pediatricians living and working outside the United States in more than 60 countries. The Section on International Medical Graduates (SOIMG) strives to optimize the skills and position of international medical graduates (IMG) to improve the health and well-being of infants, children, adolescents and young adults. This is accomplished by understanding and fulfilling the professional needs of AAP IMG members. SOIMG has over 1,300 members dedicated to issues including increasing the participation of IMGs in priority global health efforts and activities that support disaster relief.
