How can we activate our organizations to achieve sustainability goals effectively? This is a pivotal part of the climate transition, requiring us to rewire our companies' ways of working by leveraging existing systems, processes, and culture. Embedding sustainability throughout the organization is essential for driving corporate climate action and leveraging opportunities for innovation and growth. BCG has teamed up with WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development on a series of Masterclasses. During our latest session: "Empowering Leadership and Activating the Organization", expert speakers and over 50 finance and sustainability leaders discussed how we can embed sustainability throughout our operating models, integrating it into our organizational design, business processes, and corporate culture. Key Takeaways: 📌 Strategic Integration: Incorporating sustainability into strategic and financial planning is crucial for long-term profitability and sustainability. 📌 Capital Frameworks: Adjusting capital allocation to include climate risks and opportunities ensures investments align with both environmental and business goals. 📌 Robust Metrics: Developing KPIs that merge financial and climate metrics promotes transparency, informed decision-making, and broader buy-in. 📌 Funding Sustainability: Exploring diverse funding mechanisms supports ambitious climate initiatives, balancing internal and external financing. 📌 Leadership & Culture: Empowering leaders and employees to take action fosters a deep culture of sustainability, which is critical for sustained progress. In October 2023, we hosted a gathering of over 70 reskilling and upskilling experts at Harvard Business School, and it didn’t take long for everybody to arrive at a unanimous consensus: Reskilling today is a strategic imperative. The question is no longer “Whether?” or “Why?”; it’s “How?” As a follow up to our HBR magazine article, in this next follow on article we bring data from 1200 companies to identify how the average company is doing on this topic and how companies can get tangible impact from reimagining their reskilling programs. https://lnkd.in/gNHXxV2r. I'm on a mission to keep people at the center of the GenAI conversation. Last week, I had the opportunity to lead an upskilling session for ~50 CHROs at the National Academy of Human Resources (NAHR) academy for new CHROs. It was great to share why I'm so passionate about this mission. From upskilling to change management and culture and to what's next (hint: creating a repeatable capability to redesign work and roles) – we need the strategic contributions of the CHRO even more now. I left the session feeling hopeful and energized by discussions on skill disruption, HR as a keeper of trust, and the adoption curve. Huge thanks to Daniel Marsili, Lindsay Hoag, Tracy Keogh, and the New York Stock Exchange for making it happen. #hr #nahr #ai
