Usually research labs post the acquisition of new fancy machines. Today our lab DKFZ Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum officially retired it's BD FACS Canto II. 15y of hard work, contributed to many papers / theses, saw #PhD and #postdoc come and go, saw joyful faces when experiments worked, heard cries of despair when they did not, accepted it's substitute role for a fancier device in the past 2y without complaint. Thou shalt not be forgotten - may your lasers live on in another device!

Cutting-Edge Instrument at the University of Perugia: The First BD FACSDiscover™ S8 Cell Sorter in Italy Perugia, June 13, 2024 - The University of Perugia, through the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, has recently introduced a powerful tool for research in Immunooncology: the BD FACSDiscover™ S8 Cell Sorter, the first of its kind in Italy. This state-of-the-art device, developed by BD Biosciences and equipped with BD CellView™ Image technology, promises to revolutionize the analysis of immune interactions in the context of tumors. Immunooncology is a critical field in the fight against cancer, focusing on understanding immune responses to tumor cells. With the BD FACSDiscover™ S8, scientists at the University of Perugia can now explore complex cellular dynamics in real time and identify key immunological markers that could guide the development of personalized and more effective therapies.
