Can You Keep Your Benefits Broker While Switching HRIS Systems? Answers: https://lnkd.in/g_Y6HtPC #HRIS #BenefitsBroker #PayrollIntegration #EmployeeNavigator Hey everyone! 👋 I'm reaching out to gather some insights about the interplay between benefits brokers and HRIS systems, especially for those of you in New York. So, I currently have a payroll system that works pretty well for us and includes a benefits module. However, we also rely on our benefits brokers who are using platforms like Employee Navigator, among others. This situation leads to a lot of manual changes across five different systems! 😩 Here’s where things get tricky: our payroll company has been pitching a more expensive option, but I’m left wondering if Employee Navigator's costs are somehow integrated into our benefits plan. Ideally, I would love to keep our current brokers without having to switch our entire HRIS—unless, of course, the labor cost savings justify the change. Here are some key points I’m pondering: Integration Challenges: It seems like every platform offers unique integrations, but switching brokers could mean losing some of that functionality. Cost Implications: If we w...

Let’s dive into some common pain points and think about how we can tackle them together! High Competition for Top Talent: With the job market heating up, it's getting trickier to attract the best candidates. When organizations compete for the same talent, it can lead to frustration and increased turnover. Time-Consuming Processes: Recruitment can often feel like a never-ending cycle. Lengthy hiring processes can cause potential candidates to lose interest and seek opportunities elsewhere. Does FMLA Count Monday as a Consecutive Day in Florida? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gV6dQs2j #FMLA #Florida #HRSupport #EmployeeLeave Hey everyone! 💼 I’m diving into a bit of a complex topic today about FMLA and episode durations in Florida, especially considering those of us who work in HR. I'm in the Altamonte Springs area too, so I can totally relate to the confusion that sometimes arises around this. Here’s the scenario: If you have two consecutive days per episode and you call out sick on a Friday, does that mean Monday counts as your second day? 🤔 This can really get tricky when you’re experiencing flare-ups and just trying to understand your leave coverage under FMLA. Pain Points: Confusion Over Days: It can be really stressful trying to figure out what counts as an episode, especially when you're already dealing with health issues. Fear of Missteps: HR professionals and employees alike may worry about making mistakes that could affect their leave entitlements. Need for Clarity: Clear guidelines are essential for both employees and HR to navigate through workplace leave policies without added stress. Possible Solution: Document and Communicate: Always keep...

What Effective Strategies Can Improve Recruiting in Downtime? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gdXzQVXM #RecruitingTips #DowntimeStrategies #CareerGrowth Hey everyone! 👋 The title really sums it up, right? I've got most of my recruiting roles filled, but there's still a couple of stubborn positions that I'm trying to tackle. So, it got me thinking, what can we do to get better at recruiting, especially when we have some extra downtime at work? It's not uncommon to hit a lull in the recruiting process. These slow periods can be frustrating, especially when you're eager to fill those roles and keep the momentum going. In my experience, this downtime often arises from: Challenges with specific roles: Sometimes, certain positions just don’t attract the right candidates, which can lead to a prolonged hiring process. Market saturation: If many companies are looking for similar talent, it becomes a crowded space, making it tough to stand out. Candidate ghosting: It’s disheartening when candidates go silent after showing initial interest. These pain points can really slow down progress and affect not only your individual goals but also team dynamics. So, what ca...

Is Your Job Application Process Scaring Away Top Talent? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gCGcaxUm #RecruitmentChallenges #CandidateExperience #HiringProcess Hey everyone! 👋 As the head of HR at my company, I'm always curious about the recruitment practices of other organizations. I’ve been clicking through various HR job listings, and honestly, some companies make the application process feel like an obstacle course! ❓ So, how difficult do you make it for candidates to apply for your roles? I’ve noticed a couple of common pain points that can really impact the candidate experience: Excessive Requirements: Why do some companies ask for sensitive information like Social Security Numbers right off the bat? This can be a huge red flag for candidates. Redundancy: Asking candidates to fill in the same information that’s already on their resume not only frustrates them but can also lead to a high drop-off rate. 💔 The Consequence: By having a cumbersome application process, you could be losing out on some of your best candidates. When the steps to apply are overly complicated, talented individuals may simply decide it's not worth the hassle. At our company, we’ve streaml...

Wondering How to Handle Long Business Months with Ease? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gCmyxEP4 #BusinessChallenges #WorkplaceStruggles #TeamCommunication Hey everyone! So, can we just take a moment to sigh together? 😩 Sometimes it feels like we’re juggling too many things at once, especially when it comes to project timelines. What if that timeline meant waiting for the next 3-4 business MONTHS? That sounds a bit overwhelming, right? ### So why do these pain points happen? Here are a few reasons: - **Communication Breakdowns**: Misunderstandings can easily lead to extended deadlines. If we're not on the same page, projects can drag on longer than expected. 🗨️ - **Resource Limitations**: Whether it's manpower or finances, limited resources can stretch timelines and create stress. 👷♂️💼 - **Unexpected Challenges**: Roadblocks pop up, and they can totally throw a wrench in the works. 😩 These issues can really weigh on us and our team's morale. It can feel like we're running in circles without making any progress! ### So, what’s a possible solution? Here’s my take: - **Set Clear Expectations**: At the beginning of a project, clearly define tim...

Am I Overreacting? Struggling with My New Role as a Mom and Manager? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gGXtCxGh #NewMomLife #CareerChange #WorkplaceDynamics #HRStruggles #MomBoss #ReturningToWork Hey everyone! 🌟 I’m reaching out to share something that’s been on my mind since I returned to work after maternity leave. As a new mom stepping back into my role, I can’t shake the feeling that something feels off about my situation. Let me give you the scoop! So, I’m the only one running the People department in our fast-growing tech start-up, which has nearly 100 employees. 🏢 When I went on leave, I had a pretty good grip on everything from onboarding to performance management. But now that I’m back, it seems like my role has shifted in a way that I didn’t expect. Here’s the crux: I found out that the finance exec, who started around the same time I did, is now my manager. I was taken aback when I learned that they were leading the new people team—with no prior chats or discussions about this change. 😕 It feels like my projects, which have nothing to do with finance, are being filtered through the finance lens, and it’s limiting my ability to showcase what I b...

Are Career Centers Overlooking Outdated Job Advice for Seekers? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gq5tYXEd #JobAdvice #CareerCenters #JobCounselors Hey there, fellow job seekers! 👋 I’ve spent a lot of time navigating career centers and job counselors during my college years and throughout the pandemic. And honestly, I can't help but wonder if these folks even realize that their advice often feels outdated or just plain wrong. 🤔 For instance, I sat through a presentation by a career counselor at a veteran nonprofit, and it was like déjà vu—I swear it was the same tired PowerPoint my college counselor used just before the pandemic hit! The advice was eerily similar: "The best time to look for a job is when you already have one" and "network, network, network!" The only twist? They just swapped out “college grads” for “military veterans." Talk about a lack of fresh ideas! 🤦♂️ Here's a glimpse of the outdated guidance I’ve received: Write an objective statement for your resume (is that still a thing?) Pound the pavement and talk to managers in person Offer to work for free as a 'trial period' Don’t shy away from jobs that are 2+ hours away Jo...

Should You Alert Employees About Broken Time Off Policy Issues? Answers: https://lnkd.in/g2cE3Zkq #Transparency #TimeOffPolicy #EmployeeEngagement Hey there, everyone! 😊 I wanted to chat about a situation we’ve been facing around our time off policy that might sound familiar to some of you. Recently, one of our team members noticed that her accrued hours weren’t adding up correctly, which led to some eyebrow-raising. While we’ve known about this issue for a few months now, getting everything squared away has taken a bit longer than expected. During this process, others have started to ask questions too, including a few key players who have some influence in the office. Yikes! 😬 Here’s why this kind of situation can be a real pain: Trust Issues: When employees see discrepancies, it raises doubts about the company’s transparency and can affect morale. Increased Anxiety: Not knowing whether you’re being compensated accurately can create unnecessary stress. Influence of Leadership: When leaders start asking questions, it can amplify anxiety across the team, leading to a culture of uncertainty. I truly believe that transparency is key in these kinds of s...

Why Were 818,000 'New Jobs' Last Year Just a Statistical Mirage? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gjecY_YU #JobStatistics #LaborMarket #EmploymentClaims Hey everyone! 📊 So, there’s been some big news from the Department of Labor Statistics. They’ve recently updated their job numbers from last year, and guess what? About 818,000 jobs that they initially reported as "new" actually didn’t exist! 😲 Here's a quick summary of what went down: Initial Claims: They initially claimed around 2.9 million new jobs were created. Revised Numbers: Now, that number has been adjusted down to only about 2.1 million. Subtraction Drama: That means a reduction of a whopping 818,000 jobs, which is about a 27.5% drop in the numbers we thought we could trust! This kind of revision raises some major questions, doesn’t it? 🤔 It can lead to uncertainty for job seekers, employers, and even policymakers. Here are a few pain points that can occur due to this situation: Trust Issues: When statistics fluctuate like this, people might start to lose trust in the data being provided. Economic Decisions: Businesses often base hiring and investment decisions on these stats, so incorrect numbers cou...
