To mark Urology Awareness Month 2024, we’re celebrating the inspiring stories of Angelo and Sandra – two members of our global me+ community. From facing life with an ostomy to thriving as a Paralympian rower, they’ve shown that a urological condition doesn’t need to stop anyone from living the life they want to lead. Angelo’s journey to ostomy acceptance and Sandra’s empowerment in self-catheterization are reminders that even in the face of life-altering changes, we can find new ways to live fully. #UrologyAwarenessMonth

Tension location and depth can help you understand how convex characteristics may guide product selection. ✔️ The tension location is the position in which the convex dome exerts downward and outward forces on the peristomal topography. ✔️ The depth is the measurement from the apex of the dome to the base. For patients experiencing leakage, including those with flush or retracted stomas, or whose abdomen tone has changed, convexity can help to maintain a secure seal between the wafer or skin barrier and the skin. Our convex skin barriers are available in different shapes, for different body and stoma types. Therefore, understanding the 5 key characteristics of convexity can help in selecting a size and shape that works for your patient.   1. Depth - The depth of the convex skin barrier Is defined as the measurement from the apex of the dome to the base. 2. Compressibility  - The capacity of the convex dome to be displaced or flattened. 3. Flexibility -  How easily the convex skin barrier can bend. 4. Tension location - The position in which the convex dome exerts downward and outward forces on the peristomal topography. 5. Slope -   The angle from the base of the convex skin barrier to the apex of the dome. To find out more about our convex ostomy solutions visit: https://lnkd.in/e6uG_M9h

Understanding Convexity 🔬 Times are changing. Historically the use of convexity was seen as controversial due to risk of complications. That no longer is the case. See how evidence supports the use of convexity with the aim of preventing leaking as the most important consideration to prevent peristomal complications¹. Convatec Moldable Technology™ has been shown to prevent peristomal skin complications in the majority of patients.¹ Moldable Technology is a multi-layer combination adhesive that is applied by rolling back instead of cutting. After application it gently rebounds to create snug seal around the stoma.² Eliminating the need for cutting, it provides a custom fit, securing the seal of the adhesive to the stoma, reducing the incidence of leakage. That means studies have shown: ✔️ Fewer peristomal skin complications post-operatively vs cut-to fit.³ ✔️ Reduced peristomal skin irritation.⁴ To request a free sample for a patient visit the following link: https://lnkd.in/eRDMBE9N ¹Clinical Summary: Osmose Study, Multinational Evaluation of the Peristomal Condition in New Ostomates Using Moldable Skin Barriers.
