Four former employees were treated to a VIP visit to JCB to mark the 60th anniversary of their recruitment as the company’s first ever apprentices. A total of nine 15-year-old boys started as Craft Apprentices at the Rocester plant in 1964.

A family farm attraction has teamed up with a foodie influencer to offer visitors the chance to experience their very own ‘harvest’. PLAY@ Lower Drayton Farm, based just outside Penkridge, has joined forces Milly Fyfe, who shares simple recipes based on seasonal British ingredients via her No Fuss Meals for Busy Parents CIC platform. Punch Pubs & Co has partnered with a hospitality charity to provide soup flasks to people sleeping rough in cities across the UK. The pub company, which is based in Burton upon Trent, has supplied 5,280 portions of soup left over from a menu cycle change to support Only A Pavement Away’s Fill a Flask campaign.

A major expansion at a popular enterprise centre is set to be completed in November. The £1.6 million project at Newcastle Enterprise Centre in Knutton will see six workshop units built. It is estimated that when fully occupied, up to 28 people will be working on site. One of the most successful and celebrated British swimmers of all time emphasised the importance of physical activity in all stages of life when she attended an official groundbreaking ceremony for a new Staffordshire leisure centre. Two-time Olympic gold medal winner Rebecca Adlington OBE visited Stychbrook Park yesterday to break the ground on the new Lichfield Leisure Centre, which is set to become the cornerstone of health and fitness for the community. A community initiative, which promotes local artisans and small businesses, is opening its first Creative Department Store in Staffordshire. Keep It Local is launching the innovative retail space on October 1 at The Potteries Centre in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent. It will offer a venue for 200 makers and creators to showcase their work. “This is more than just a pop-up store,” said Andrew Nixon. “We are creating a space that celebrates the creativity and spirit of Stoke-on-Trent. Our goal is to bring the magic of Christmas back to our city and offer a shopping experience that the community can truly be proud of.”
