What's inside folks willing to share their spare, save a life and leave a priceless legacy? Empathy comes to mind. Here's the story of a long-time friend with an enlarged amygdala desiring to help others in need of a kidney transplant. #shareyourspare #savealife #leavealegacy #kidneydonation #lesskidneydisease

Inspiring Americans to share their spare, advocating for policies encouraging donation, educating about kidney disease.
About us
Drive for Five is a completely volunteer-based network designed to recruit more live organ donations, lessen kidney disease affliction and advocate for better legislative policies concerning live organ donation. America has a kidney crisis that's getting worse. Drive for Five's goal is to recruit 5,000 to, "Share your spare, save a life and leave a priceless Legacy." What most folks have in abundance - kidney, lobe of liver or bone marrow - can be shared to those in desperate need of new life through live organ donation. It's estimated around 16 Americans die each day awaiting a transplant. DFF is targeting fit and healthy American adults at a stage in life where they're looking for a way to give back to their communities in a significant way. As one of DFF's Founders, Olympian Crissy Perham, so wonderfully stated, "It's better than gold and silver." The former University of Arizona All American swimmer would know, she won two golds and a silver at the 1992 Barcelona Games and donated a kidney to Dick Franklin, father of five-time Olympic gold winning swimmer, Missy Franklin. On the wellness side of things, the Drive for Five network also advocates for healthier lifestyles. America's out of shape. Obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes and fatty liver disease are kidney killers. Their numbers continue to rise. Drive for Five advocates for wellness to help 5,000 NOT fall into kidney disease. Dialysis is no fun. Finally, Drive for Five advocates at the state and federal levels for better policies concerning live organ donation. Current policies make it difficult for many of modest to meager financial means and labor-focused jobs to consider sharing their spare and saving a life. We need to change policies that no longer work considering the growing kidney crisis in America.

Public events like the 25th Donor Alliance "Donor Dash" do a wonderful job of raising awareness of America's growing kidney crisis. Drive for Five folks were honored to participate in the recent 25th edition at Denver's Washington Park.

The DFF Network is blessed to have Crissy Perham as one of its ambassadors in this effort to educate America about live organ donations, better policies to encourage more participation and education our nation about its growing kidney crisis. Perham is one amazing human being. The Iowa native who was an All American at Arizona and then won two golds and a silver in the butterfly at the '92 Barcelona games has become a dear friend and fierce advocate for our mission. Where did all this passion begin for the personable woman? USA Today did a nice job of telling her story recently. It also involves another incredible family known for its own Olympic star. Crissy, you rock sista! #shareyourspare #savealife #leavealegacy #kidneydonation #lesskidneydisease
Olympic gold-medal swimmers were strangers until living kidney donation made them family

Hanging with the fellas on a Friday morning takes me to a civil rights superstar of long ago. My goodness, we could use his spirit today in these tumultuous times. I hope you enjoy, "Beliefs."

Six weeks post transplant. Feeling pretty darn good but there's room for improvement. The first few months are a roller coaster in working with AdventHealth Colorado's excellent transplant team, tweaking meds and all that jazz. Thanks for the continued well wishes. They're appreciated greatly. Please pray for the amazing woman who shared her spare and saved my life. Blessed beyond measure. May this beautiful soul's recovery continue trending in positive direction. Yep. My kidney donor is a woman. Might be a good reason why this DFF dude's watching more Hallmark movies these days. 😍 #shareyourspare #savealife #leavealegacy #kidneydonation #lesskidneydisease

The state of our union? Troubled to say the least. Much like Trump credits "Divine Design" with saving his life? America could use a little to rescue our troubled nation. I hope you find some inspiration from, "Fruits." #goodbetterbest

The Drive for Five Network's Elaine Perlman is a wonderful ambassador leading a national effort to get legislation passed at the federal level that would remove artificial barriers to more live organ donations. It's called the "End Kidney Deaths Act", https://shorturl.at/NS9Dm and will be introduced later this summer in Congress. Here's the New York City resident with an update on a tax credit to those who share their spare. We give tax credits for solar panels and electric vehicles. We pay cash for donated sperm, fertilized eggs and plasma. The time is now to enact this sensible and live-saving legislation. #shareyourspare #savealife #leavealegacy #kidneydonation #lesskidneydisease

We know "Ace is the place for the helpful hardware man." Guess what? AdventHealth Porter is the place for the helpful transplant team." Talented crew. Anybody in Denver metro area needing an organ transplant? I highly recommend. However, live outside the Denver metro area? Need resources and services those of us in this transplant world require? Ain't easy. The disparity between urban and rural care is vast and inequitable. We can do better. #shareyourspare #savealife #leavealegacy
