📢 FutureFit Conference – ESG Panel   As part of our ESG panel which was moderated by Nala Worsfold and supported by Navin Rauniar, Mark Davies and Paul Hamalainen.   We asked the audience a number of questions, including where firms were on their ESG programmes which showed that whilst 39% of respondents stated they were well underway there was a larger percentage of firms at 55% that were still in the very early stages or yet to start.    The challenges around ESG were unsurprisingly centred around data gathering with 73% of respondents citing this as a key area of concern and clearly there is potentially some work for the standard setters and regulators with 23% struggling with understanding the requirements.    Finally we asked where ESG ownership sat in firms organisation with a majority now stating that this sat in Risk, highlighting the importance that ESG plays for firms when managing and understanding their risks and exposures. 📢 During our FutureFit Conference, Jawad Akhtar moderated a panel on Basel 3.1, he was joined by Simon Hills, Rheta du Preez, Oivind Andresen and Enrico Messori.   Whilst news of the delay was hot off the press, only 16% of respondents indicated their projects were on hold with 47% working on it piecemeal and the remainder either tackling it as a whole or on track to complete early.    We also asked where firms were facing challenges or had concerns, interestingly nearly 20% of the audience cited increased calculations and modelling with a further 43% quoting the operationalising of their systems and data modelling, highlighting the important role of RegTech’s in supporting firm readiness.
