Harvest Pillar is hitting the dirt. In Kingsburg, California, a three-man crew installed 194 concrete posts over two days. These posts are 11 feet tall and buried four feet deep. After attaching an auger to a skid steer, the installer bored holes for each Harvest Pillar to be inserted, backfilled, and packed. When you average it out, it took about two and a half minutes to install one post. Concrete trellis posts go in just as quickly as treated wooden posts, but without the downsides of using CCA-treated wood. Harvest Pillar doesn't rot like wood, and it's not susceptible to disease like wood. Also, CCA-treated posts are a huge no-no in organic operations. Now, after this quick installation, this field will soon transform from an empty dirt lot with nearly 200 concrete posts to a vibrant vineyard growing grapes that will one day become raisins. When Nick Sciabica and his family decided to start a brewery, they knew they wanted to grow their own hops.  And why not?
