Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trusts CardioWall Portrait looking sleek in their new PICU unit! ✨ After the success of the CardioWall at their male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, Pennine Care have invested in another activity wall to support their female unit at Stepping Hill. We look forward to gathering patient stories and feedback along the way 🔜 #MentalHealth #ActivityWall #CardioWall
Woodbank psychiatric intensive care unit is now open and welcomed the first patients last week. The £2.4m refurbished unit at Stepping Hill hospital supports women experiencing serious mental illness, such as psychosis or severe depression. With Woodbank, people can now stay closer to home and closer to loved ones, and it’ll be easier to link in with local services such as rehab and supported housing. Patients and staff have been at the heart of the design to make sure the unit is safe, comfortable, and modern. They selected the furniture and colour schemes and chose to name the unit Woodbank, after a local beauty spot. You can read more about the latest features and benefits on our website. You’ll also be able to take a virtual tour in the coming weeks.

Parkinson's research 🤝 AI A simple blood test using artificial intelligence has been developed to predict Parkinson's years before symptoms arise! Because Parkinson's develops as a result of damaged or lost neurons in the brain, predicting Parkinson's before symptoms appear would protect these neurons, and support experimental preventative treatment 💊 Our CardioWall customers use our activity wall to support people with Parkinson's and other neurological conditions to maintain mobility and reduce symptoms. We're excited to see that research like this could prevent people from suffering from this life-long illness in the future 🤞 #ParkinsonsResearch #Parkinsons #CardioWall

Tai Chi and falls risk... what's the link? Every year, a third of adults over 65, and half of adults over 80, will have at least one fall¹. This puts older adults at risk of injury, loss of confidence, and reduced independence. It’s common for older adults at risk of falling to experience a fear of falls, leading to less physical activity, a reduced level of mobility, and a decline in health and wellbeing. But, staying active and challenging more movement can actually reduce the risk of falls, by: 🦶 Improving balance 🦵 Boosting lower body strength 💫 Increasing mobility confidence 🤸 Improves flexibility 🧠 Offering cognitive exercise This is where Tai Chi comes in! Residents at Oriel Care have been taking part in regular Tai Chi, an activity that requires cognitive engagement, balance, and coordination, and staff have seen 50% less falls at Oriel! Just like using our CardioWall, Tai Chi offers a physical, cognitive, and social activity to promote active aging 👉 https://lnkd.in/gnEcTgGp ¹https://lnkd.in/e-MMxBaw #ActiveAging #FallsRisk #BBCNews
