I’m talon you that job hunting with a criminal record can be a discouraging experience, especially when background checks are part of the initial screening process. To reduce these barriers, many U.S. states, cities, and counties have enacted "ban the box" laws, which prevent employers from asking about criminal convictions and arrests on initial job applications. These laws give qualified candidates a fairer chance in the hiring process, regardless of their criminal history. At the federal level, the Fair Chance to Compete for Jobs Act of 2019 (FCA) prohibits federal employers from considering a job applicant's criminal history before making a conditional job offer.  Beyond federal protections, numerous states, counties, and cities have enacted laws that safeguard both private and public-sector candidates from discriminatory hiring practices related to criminal records. Currently, 27 states have "ban the box" laws, with all of them applying to public-sector employers, and 16 extending to the private sector.  These laws generally exclude candidates for sensitive positions, such as those in childcare, healthcare, or public safety, where background checks may occur earlier in the hiring process. Additionally, 11 states, 60 counties, and 125 cities have policies requiring employers to remove criminal history questions from job applications or delay background checks until later in the hiring process. Unlike some classes where you are watching a recording, our classes are taught live by the Dean of Screening University, Curt Schwall, so you can ask questions and receive immediate answers. Plus, if you sign in a few minutes early, you get to chat with our Dean and the moderator. They love to have a good time. How often are the classes taught? There are usually two classes each day Monday through Thursday. There is a morning class and an afternoon class. The morning class is taught at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time, and the afternoon class time rotates to allow multiple opportunities to fit them into your schedule. Please check the calendar to see when each course is offered and note that all times listed are Eastern Time. How long is each class? Screening 101, 301, and 501 are each 1 hour. Screening 201 and 401 are both 1¼ hours. Because we allow for as many questions as you have at the end, that can have that portion of the class run over slightly. Are the SHRM and HRCI credits for the series or each individual course?
