🌧️ Europe Braces for Extreme Weather: Flooding and Snow Threats Our Spire High-Resolution Forecast indicates a major European storm will unleash 10-15 inches (254-381 mm) of rain from Austria to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland. Localized areas may see over 17.50 inches (445 mm) of total precipitation, leading to a significant flash flooding threat. 🌬️ Strong Winds are likely to add to the risks, with the potential for downed trees and power outages. 🏔️ Meanwhile, parts of the Alps are gearing up for heavy snowfall, with more than a foot (30 cm) expected. 🚨 Authorities are already taking action, releasing water from river dams to reduce flood risks. 🌀 Hurricane Francine to undergo rapid strengthening ahead of Louisiana landfall 🌀 The 12Z run of our Spire High-Resolution Forecast indicates #Francine will strengthen up until landfall along the Louisiana coastline, with our landfall point slightly east of the official National Hurricane Center track. Not only is the storm looking stronger but also better defined. There is a small chance (10%) Francine could reach high-end Category 2 or Category 3 strength, a 20% chance of moderate Cat 2, with the greatest chances of 70% being a high-end Cat 1 to low-end Cat 2 at landfall. Francine’s outer rainbands are beginning to move onshore in southern Louisiana, with conditions expected to deteriorate throughout the day. Damaging winds, flooding rain, storm surge, and tornadoes are among the risks, especially near and east of the storm’s center. Our DeepVision™ weather risk management visualization platform indicates an oil platform near the storm’s center recorded a wind gust of 96 mph. The NHC reports an oil platform north of Francine’s center recorded sustained winds of 85 mph and a gust of 101 mph at an elevation of 98 ft (30 m). #HurricaneUpdate #LAwx #WeatherForecast #InSpire
