About us

ITE, founded in 1930, is an international educational and scientific association of more than 17,000 professionals and students who are responsible for meeting mobility and safety needs. Our members are traffic engineers, transportation planners, roadway designers, consultants, signal technicians, contractors, vendors, inventors, researchers, professors, students, and policy makers who work to maintain and improve surface transportation systems worldwide. TexITE has six local Sections representing urban centers (Brazos Valley, Greater Dallas, Capital Area, Houston Area, Greater Fort Worth, and South Texas) and one "at-large" section (Lone Star) for members from more remote or rural areas of the state.

The 7th Annual Transportation Technology Tournament is underway! Hosted by the National Operations Center of Excellence (#NOCoE) and the #USDOT USDOT Research and Technology’s Professional Capacity Building (PCB) Program. It’s time to introduce some of our student teams. The undergraduate, graduate, and PhD candidate students on the The University of Texas at Arlington team will develop their #ITS solution, a near-miss detection product, to identify high-risk intersections and improve intersection safety in the City of Arlington, TX. This school’s fun fact? Students at UT Arlington come from over 100 countries around the world, making it the 5th most diverse school in the U.S. Go Mavericks! 🎉 Exciting News! 🎉 We are thrilled to announce that The University of Texas at Arlington team has been selected as one of the top four finalists in the National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE) and USDOT Research and Technology-hosted 2024 Transportation Technology Tournament! Competing among ten teams from across the country, we are excited to collaborate with public agencies to tackle real-world transportation challenges using ITS and TSMO solutions. A special thank you to our advisor, Taylor Li, Ph.D., P.E., whose unwavering support and guidance made this opportunity possible. We are also deeply grateful to the City of Arlington for sponsoring our project and making this collaboration happen, and to Christopher Funches, P.E., for his invaluable support and guidance throughout the process.
