As the first Monday of September rolls around, the Blanchard Community comes together to recognize and celebrate Labor Day, a day dedicated to honoring the hardworking individuals who contribute so much to our society. Whether you’re a teacher, healthcare worker, builder, or artist, this day is for you! Labor Day, a US holiday, has its roots in the labor union movement of the late 19th century when workers fought for fair wages, reasonable hours, and safer working conditions. 🎉 Blanchard Community Recognizes Vietnam's Independence Day 🎉 Vietnam's Independence Day is on September 2nd and commemorates Vietnam's freedom from French rule in 1945. On this day Ho Chi Minh, a key leader, declared Vietnam's independence in a famous speech. This holiday is a time of pride and joy for the Vietnamese people, celebrated with parades, fireworks, and special ceremonies. Families gather to enjoy traditional foods and remember the history of their country. 🌟 Celebrating Ken and Margie Blanchard🌟 “Probably 40 years ago now, Ken Blanchard did two in-person presentations here in Anchorage. One of those presentations was to a group of FAA employees, as best I can recollect. We were fortunate enough as long-time friends to be asked to join him for dinner the night after the session. He was asked by another consultant/speaker who was a member of the Ken Blanchard fan club how his session went that day. Ken said it was a tough group. He handled it by saying to the group, ‘You know that I often say Feedback is the Breakfast of Champions. So, would you like some feedback?’ The group responded en masse, ‘Of course!’ ‘Well,’ he said, ‘I feel like I am ... doing all the work.’ There was shock on the faces of those at the table as we were so unused to hearing Ken say a negative thing about anybody. 🔦 We'd like to introduce this week's Practitioners Spotlight: Dave Cordery! 🔦 Dave Cordery is Co-owner and Consulting Partner of Blanchard New Zealand. He has been facilitating Blanchard content for 30 years, beginning way back when ne was a junior officer in the Royal New Zealand Navy overseeing the training of classes of new recruits, During his Naval career, he delivered SLII®, Self Leadership, and Team Leadership. During that time, he was also actively involved in judo as an international competitor, and a coach, referee, and club principal. After a diagnosis of MS in his late 30s he was forced to retire from judo and the Navy, and recreationally, he now engages in more gentle exercise such as taking beach walks with his partner and riding his e-bike, as well as playing his guitar, cooking, playing board games and reading. When he left the Navy, he tried another role for a few years but missed the enjoyment he got out of helping folk develop their leadership skills, so he joined Blanchard New Zealand just over 10 years ago.  He delivers all of the Blanchard core programmes both in person and virtually. He especially enjoy the virtual training environment and the ability to connect with, and help leaders all over the world. He is also one of the Blanchard Institute’s Student Self Leadership Coaches and is totally inspired by the energy and vigour of the next generation of leaders coming through. 🏆Are you a Blanchard Practitioner?
