August marks National Wellness Month, a time dedicated to encouraging people to prioritize their physical, mental and emotional well-being. While we encourage you to take time for self-care, we also want to emphasize that not everyone has access to the resources needed for a healthy, balanced life. At the Humana Foundation, we recognize these barriers and are committed to creating more equitable health outcomes by eliminating social and structural barriers at play. #HumanaFoundation #Philanthropy #NationalWellnessMonth

Peer Facilitator Spotlight: Candyce Rusk Cooking After Cancer facilitator The Happy Kitchen / La Cocina Alegre ® (THK / LCA ®) courses are first and foremost community spaces where class participants and class facilitators are peers who have experiences in common. “How I got involved was in 2010, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I took the Cooking After Cancer class during chemo,” Candyce said. After completing the course, Candyce agreed to share her witty and compassionate personality with others in the community recovering from cancer as a Cooking After Cancer facilitator. Thanks for 13 years of sharing cooking and nutrition knowledge, Candyce! THK / LCA ® is our longest-running program with over 25 years of providing free, bilingual cooking and nutrition education to Texas communities. We’re excited to continue and expand classes designed to manage chronic conditions like Cooking with Diabetes and Cooking After Cancer with support from Humana Foundation #TheHappyKitchen #LaCocinaAlegre #Cooking #Nutrition #NutritionEducation #CookingAfterCancer #Remission #FoodIsMedicine

July marks National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, which highlights the unique struggles that underrepresented groups face regarding mental health care access and stigma. Many in these communities struggle to access mental health services due to factors like cost, inadequate insurance and external stressors such as racial discrimination. At the Humana Foundation, we are committed to addressing the significant disparities in mental health care faced by racial and ethnic minority groups. Join us in advocating for inclusive mental health practices. #Philanthropy #HumanaFoundation

The Humana Foundation team recently huddled to speak with Humana team members and community leaders in the Florida market to learn how we can more effectively engage Florida employees and better serve the diverse communities in Florida. We then visited a "Senior Planet" facility, which is operated by our partner Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) from AARP. We learned how the new facility is serving the older adult community, and we volunteered in one-on-one tech sessions at Senior Planet to help educate seniors on using technology. We love learning more about the communities we serve and listening to the people in those communities! #Philanthropy #HumanaFoundation #TeamHumana
