Help Keep Our Roads and Waters Clean

The cost of removing litter from Louisiana highways and waterways is staggering. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) spends some $9 million each year on this effort. Litter combined with heavy rain often ends up in our streams and lakes. With some thoughtfulness and effort, Louisiana citizens can help keep our roadways and waterbodies clean. Here are a few simple actions citizens can take: 1) Do not litter! 2) Reuse or recycle items whenever possible. 3) Pick up one piece of litter every day. For more information on litter and stormwater runoff and how you can help protect our waterways, please visit DOTD's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) website.
