Victor Wembanyama named NBA Rookie of the Year, as expected

Even though everyone expected it, it is still a surprise because of his high level of play. Victor Wembanyama confirmed all the predictions this Monday as he was named the NBA Rookie of the Year after a spectacular season.

The 20-year-old San Antonio Spurs center beat the other two finalists, Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Brandon Miller of the Charlotte Hornets.

'Wemby' is the first player in NBA history with at least 1,500 points, 700 rebounds, 250 assists, 250 blocks and 100 triples in a season, a reason important enough to expect even more from him next season.

Listed at 7 feet 4 inches, the French player has shined in both attack and defense, after also being nominated for the Defensive Player of the Year award. Offensively he averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.6 blocks and 1.2 steals per game.

An NBA example during his first season

The center has left his mark on the league even at a young age. His performances have included astonishing outings such as his triple-double against the Toronto Raptors.

In addition to his impressive statistics, Wembanyama has captivated fans with his spectacular and unique playing style. His ability to block impossible shots and his ability to score from any position have made him a phenom both on and off the court.

On can only predict what he can become as his career progresses in the NBA.
