Los Angeles Sparks' rookie sensation Cameron Brink is making waves even before hitting the court in the WNBA, and her admiration for Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is no secret.

In a recent interview, Brink wasted no time in declaring her affinity for Butler when faced with choosing between him and other NBA stars. Whether pitted against rising talents like Victor Wembanyama or established names like Jayson Tatum and Joel Embiid, Brink's loyalty remained unwaveringly with Butler. "I love Jimmy, Jimmy Butler!" she exclaimed, revealing her admiration for the six-time NBA All-Star.

Despite not having a personal relationship with Butler like that to her bond with Stephen Curry, Brink is drawn to Butler's game style, aiming to mirror his two-way dominance on the court. Brink's aspirations to emulate Butler's ability come as she steps into her role as the newest member of the Los Angeles Sparks, selected as the second overall pick in the WNBA draft.

Brink is excited for her new role

Brink's excitement about joining the Sparks under the guidance of head coach Curt Miller is evident. Contrasting with her experience under Tara VanDerveer at Stanford, Brink anticipates a different style of play with Miller. "I love to learn from all different types of coaches, all different styles of play, so I am just really excited for his advice," she remarked.

The transition from Stanford's predominantly inside-focused play to the Sparks' more versatile approach presents an opportunity for Brink to showcase her adaptability. She envisions a shift towards playing more on the perimeter, aligning with Miller's strategy that allows bigs to exhibit greater versatility. "Tara is very much a low block coach and I think Kurt allows his bigs to be a little more versatile," Brink observed.

Central to Brink's evolving game style is her desire to emulate Butler's multifaceted contributions. Like Butler, Brink aims to be a formidable force on both ends of the court, excelling in defense while also making impactful offensive plays. If Brink can fulfill her goals and reach a level similar to that of Butler, the Sparks will have a star for years to come.
