Adidas slammed by Israel for campaign commercial starring Bella Hadid

The global sports apparel giant, Adidas, have been slammed by the nation of Israel for their decision to include Bella Hadid in their latest commercial connected to the 1972 Munich Massacre, despite her political attitudes towards Palestine.

Adidasreleased the shoe in 1972 ahead of the Summer Olympic Games in Munich, Germany which has become infamously known for the slaughter of 11 Israelis at the hands of Islamist terrorists, who were from Palestine.

Israel believes the advert is completely insensitive by featuring Hadid, who it accuses of possessing anti-Semitism views, as well as calling for violence against Israel and being half-Palestinian.

"Adidas recently launched a new campaign for their shoes to highlight the 1972 Munich Olympics," Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote on X.com, formerly Twitter. "Eleven Israelis were murdered by Palestinian terrorists during the Munich Olympics.

"Guess who the face of their campaign is? Bella Hadid, a half-Palestinian model who has a history of spreading antisemitism and calling for violence against Israelis and Jews. She and her father frequently promote blood libels and antisemitic conspiracies against Jews. @Adidas, any comment?"

Israel Foreign Ministry slams shoe design

Hadid modelled for the commercial in a white and black Adidas sports top with matching shorts and socks whilst she held a series of red, pink and white flowers for the SL 72 shoe model features light red.

It also has a deep red color which looks like a similar shade to blood, whilst featuring the iconic white strips of the Adidas logo and white laces with a blue interior, and Israel's Foreign Ministry also criticized the design for being insensitive.

The focus comes with the positioning of the shoes in the centre of the ad as they stand vertically with their soles facing each other, which Tammy Rahamimoff-Honig, Deputy Head of the Ministry, suggested could reference the triangles Hamas currently uses to identify Israeli targets.

"It couldn't be, could it?," Rahamimoff-Honig said on X.com. "Is it possible the Adidas ad also hints at Hamas' repugnant red triangle indicating the slaughter of Israelis/Jews?"
