On Thursday a fire consumed part of the luxurious mansion of singer Marc Anthony, called 'El Oasis', located in an exclusive area in the Dominican Republic, known as La Romana, a place where other celebrities such as Beyonce, Jay-Z and Justin Bieber, also have properties.

The local press confirmed that neither the singer nor his family, model Nadia Ferreira, were present. However, the fire, which started early Thursday morning, consumed a significant portion of the property, even though firefighters arrived just five minutes later.

In images shared on social media, a large column of smoke that alerted the emergency services could be seen during the early morning.

Initial reports indicate that the cause of the fire was a short circuit that in a few minutes caused the fire to spread significantly, causing a large number of firefighters to be called in to fight the flames. However, the flames did not affect the main house, which has luxury finishes and an entertainment set, including state-of-the-art technology.

The wedding between Marc Anthony and his ex Shannon de Lima took place at this property in 2014, while in 2021 it hosted the reality show 'Por amor o por dinero' produced by Telemundo.

A representative of the 55-year-old Puerto Rican singer told The New York Post: "The fire started on the left side of the property, in the area where the four bungalows that function to house the house's guests are located."

He detailed that three of the four bungalows were destroyed by the flames, as well as a living area on the side of the property, but that "the main house was not damaged and the fire department has everything under control and has launched an investigation."

Finally, he reiterated that neither Marc nor his family were in the country and all the personnel working in the house are safe, for which the singer thanked the emergency services for responding quickly to the fire, although they needed two hours to control it.

Marc Anthony purchased this property in 2014 during his marriage to Shannon de Lima. The couple separated in 2017. Anthony remarried last year, to Nadia Ferreira.

The property was listed in Architectural Digest in 2017. The property spans approximately 10,000 square feet, has a capacity to house 24 people and features amenities such as: two swimming pools and two artificial beaches, surrounded by large gardens, multiple entertainment pavilions, home theater rooms, artwork by Fernando Varela, stone statues and, a location just yards from the Caribbean Sea.

The singer normally uses the residence as a place to host family and friends during summer and spring vacations and during the holiday season, according to Hola! magazine.
