Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani has just put down roots in the Los Angeles area and has invested $7.85 million in a modern mansion in La Ca�ada Flintridge. The purchase comes five months after Ohtani signed a 10-year contract with the Dodgers worth $700 million which obligated him to a buy home, he does not want to live in an apartment.
A real estate source familiar with the neighborhood confirmed that Ohtani is the buyer of a very familiar place for another famed celebrity.
The seller is comedian Adam Carolla, who bought it for $7.327 million in 2018. He told Mansion Global that he was selling the place after divorcing his wife, Lynette Paradise.
Ohtani will have about a 20-minute drive to Dodger Stadium, which is about 13 miles from his new home.

Shohei Ohtani is no stranger to making very expensive transactions, of course he is normally on the receiving end of them. This time, it was time to spend if he wanted to feel like at home for a decade.
At $7.85 million, it is one of the most expensive sales ever in the foothill community. Carolla listed the home last summer for $8.99 million before an October price cut lowered the tag to $8.35 million.
Built in 2013, the three-story home spans 7,327 square feet and sits on nearly an acre. The modern exterior gives way to spaces inspired by the Midcentury, which combine stone, glass and wood under skylights and windows. Highlights include a kitchen with custom cabinets, an indoor-outdoor living room, and amenities such as a movie theater, sauna, gym, and basketball court.
There are five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, including a master suite with a balcony and whirlpool tub. Sliding doors lead outside where there is a lounge area overlooking the pool, spa and lawn.
