Vladimir Guerrero Jr., a celebrated figure in MLB and son of Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero Sr., has established himself as one of the premier power hitters in the league. Although he hasn't replicated his standout 2021 season, where he finished second in the American League MVP race, his potential remains undeniable.

As Guerrero Jr. approaches free agency at the end of the 2025 season, he recently discussed his contract situation and the possibility of a contract extension with the Toronto Blue Jays in an interview with Tu Sabor Deportivo.

What did Guerrero say about staying in Toronto?

In his own words, Vladdy Jr. exudes confidence and composure, expressing his willingness to secure a contract extension either with the Blue Jays or another organization. He emphasized his focus on playing baseball while leaving the negotiations to his legal team:

"I'd like to sign a contract extension. I'm focused on playing baseball and I'll leave the business side of things to my lawyers. I am calm, sooner or later they will have to pay me. Whether it's this team or another team, they're going to have to pay me," he declared.

Guerrero Jr., a Dominican-Canadian talent, recently won his salary arbitration case for the 2024 MLB season against the Blue Jays, resulting in Toronto paying him $19.9 million this year.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, which marks his final year of salary arbitration before reaching free agency, Guerrero Jr. is off to a solid start despite early challenges. He currently holds a batting line of .189/.333/.378 in 45 plate appearances, showcasing his power with two home runs and three RBIs.

As Guerrero Jr. navigates contract negotiations and continues to excel on the field, the baseball world eagerly awaits the unfolding chapters of his career.

His combination of talent, determination, and poise ensures that his future in MLB, whether with the Blue Jays or elsewhere, promises to be a compelling storyline in the seasons to come.
