The Nationals are making headlines in MLB news cycles after their 4-3 win in the 2023 Little League Classic by moving up prospect Dylan Crews to their Double-A affiliate team.

This is exciting news for Nats fans as the outfielder is considered the best prospect in the franchise and the fourth best in all MLB.

Crews is getting his second promotion

The player out of LSU was drafted second overall by the Nationals just this July and he already exceeded the high expectations placed on him by getting a second promotion in just under two months.

Crews first appeared in one game of the Florida Complex League in which he went 3 for 3 earning him his a promotion to the Class-A Fredricksburg Nationals.

In total, Crews played 14 games with Fredricksburg where he amassed 5 home runs, two doubles, 24 RBI's, 18 runs, and one stolen base.

With the Nationals having an underwhelming season and sitting in last place in their division, there is speculation that the team might make a move to bring up Crews to MLB before the season is over.

Crews is a standout among prospects

Before the MLB Draft, the 21-year-old was considered the best amateur player in baseball after winning the 2023 Golden Spikes Award.

In the draft, Crews and pitcher Paul Skenes (who was taken first by the Pirates) made history by becoming the first pair of college teammates selected as No. 1 and No. 2 in the same year.

Both players are also in the top 5 of MLB's top prospects. Skenes sits in 3rd and Crews is following right behind in 4th.

The Top 2 are infielder Jackson Holliday (Orioles), and outfielder Jackson Chourio (Brewers).

The Nationals, who are building a successful farm system are gathering an exciting group of young players and prospects that include CJ Abrams, Josiah Gray, Keibert Ruiz, James Wood, Brady House, and Cade Cavalli.
