In a groundbreaking achievement in Major League Baseball (MLB), Bruce Bochy has etched his name in the books of baseball history by leading the Texas Rangers to successs in the World Series.

This remarkable feat comes just one year after the Texas Rangers announced Bochy as their coach, marking a triumphant return to the coaching role after his retirement in 2019, following a successful 13-year stint with the San Francisco Giants.

Bochy's prowess shone brightly as he steered the Rangers to their first-ever World Series win since their establishment as a franchise in 1962.

This remarkable accomplishment makes him the fifth manager in MLB history to claim a World Series title with two different teams.

He now joins a select group of legendary managers, including Bucky Harris (1924 with the Washington Senators and 1947 with the New York Yankees), Bill McKechnie (1925 with the Pittsburgh Pirates and 1940 with the Cincinnati Reds), Sparky Anderson (1975 and 1976 with the Cincinnati Reds and 1984 with the Detroit Tigers), and Tony La Russa (1989 with the Oakland Athletics and 2006 and 2011 with the St. Louis Cardinals).

What sets Bochy apart is not only his achievement of accumulating four titles (2010, 2012, and 2014 with the San Francisco Giants and 2023 with the Texas Rangers) but also his unique distinction as the first coach in MLB history to secure a World Series victory with a team he had previously defeated in the championship. In 2010, Bochy's Giants had triumphed over the Rangers in the World Series.

With an impressive record of 2,093 wins (including 56 in the playoffs) out of the 4,032 games he coached, Bochy's accolades place him among the elite in the realm of World Series victories.

While Casey Stengel and Joe McCarthy lead the way with seven titles each (both at the helm of the New York Yankees), Bochy's accomplishment further solidifies his place in baseball history.

First Rangers title

For the Texas Rangers, this win marks their inaugural World Series title, having previously reached the Series in 2010 and 2011 but falling short against the San Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals, respectively.

Bochy's success leaves just five MLB teams without a World Series championship to their name: the Seattle Mariners, Colorado Rockies, Tampa Bay Rays, San Diego Padres, and Milwaukee Brewers.
