Jonathan Owens granted special permission from Chicago Bears to support Simone Biles in Paris

Jonathan Owens, husband of Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, is currently separated from his wife while she competes in Paris, but he's making sure to support her from afar. Despite receiving permission from the Chicago Bears to take a break from practice, Owens has not yet traveled to join Biles in France. Instead, he watched her performance on the opening day from home, documenting the experience on his Instagram stories.

In one post, Owens is seen comfortably in bed, captioning the moment with "We locked in" as he watched Biles and her Team USA teammates compete.

He shared his excitement and pride as Biles performed a flawless balance beam routine, earning a score of 14.733. The Chicago Bears have granted Owens leave from July 28 to August 3, aligning with the gymnastics competition schedule and allowing him to eventually join Biles in Paris.

The special arrangement with the Bears demonstrates their support for Owens' personal commitments. NFL players can face significant fines for missing training, but Owens' request for time off was accommodated, showing the team's understanding of the importance of supporting family during crucial moments.

"First-class organization," Owens said. "I just want to thank them so much even allowing me to go over and do that. I can't wait to be able to support her, and I know my family and my wife, she really appreciates it."

Meanwhile, Biles' family, including her mother Nellie, sister Adria and niece Ronnie, have travelled to Paris to cheer her on. This trip is particularly significant as they were unable to attend the previous Olympics due to pandemic restrictions. Their presence provides vital support for Biles as she competes, and they eagerly await Owens' arrival to complete the family support circle.

Owens has a history of going above and beyond to support Biles, including braving bad weather to attend her events, such as the Xfinity US Gymnastics Championships.
