There are those who follow the Dallas Cowboys who believe that Dak Prescott is not the answer at quarterback.

Whilst his continued regular season performances are of a high standard, his playoff displays have left fans hugely disappointed as the team has repeatedly failed in the post-season.

As per the terms of his current contract, Prescott may become a free agent at the end of the season if he doesn't reach a contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys.

Former All-Pro wide receiver Dez Bryant believes that extending contracts for Prescott is of paramount importance to the team and their hopes of success.

"We need to hurry up and do something ... I gotta be able to go to war with the opposing team fans!!!" Bryant declared.

Why is there a standstill in talks between Dallas and Prescott?

Negotiations between the Cowboys and Prescott have hit a standstill. According to recent reports, the team's Executive Vice President indicated that the team is waiting for Prescott's response.

"The ball is in Dak's court," Jerry Jones confirmed.

Over the last two seasons, quarterback contracts have significantly increased in value. Jalen Hurts, for example, reset the market with a five-year, 255-million-dollar deal, briefly becoming the highest-paid player in the league before being surpassed. Hurts is now ranked as the eighth-highest-paid player.

This trend has elevated the overall market value for top quarterbacks. Prescott could easily command over 50 million dollars annually, making negotiations challenging for the Cowboys. While the market justifies such a high price, it remains a steep commitment for any team, including Dallas.

Despite the financial implications, Bryant, a three-time Pro Bowler who briefly played alongside Prescott, believes that extending Prescott's contract is in the best interest of the team, regardless of the cost.

If the Cowboys don't secure an extension for Prescott, he could play out the final year of his contract, worth around 40 million dollars, and then hit free agency.

To avoid a bidding war, the Cowboys need to act swiftly. Delaying could allow other quarterbacks to sign deals that push the market ceiling even higher.
