Jacksonville's EverBank Stadium gasped when their starting QB sustained the first serious injury of his NFL career. 46 consecutive starts later, Trevor Lawrence went down after being accidentally stepped on by his OL Walker Little on Monday Night Football. But it was a decision by the Jags' staff that left everyone bewildered.

After attempting to get back on his feet, Lawrence knew something was wrong. The quarterback took his helmet off and slammed it against the turf. He was then aided by two staff members to the sideline. However, it was the images of the QB walking through the tunnels with a staff members and a police officer (who had stepped in to help) that made fans realize the quarterback was potentially aggravating his injury.

Why fans were mad at Jaguars' handling of Lawrence's injury

"Where the heck is the cart?", one concerned fan wrote online. "Hello? Cart? What are the Jaguars doing?". "THIS IS SO DANG WRECKLESS", another wrote.

Though carts are often used for season-ending injuries, they are also often employed by teams as a precautionary measure when dealing with any form of leg injury. In this case, Trevor Lawrence walked (albeit assisted) all the way to the stadium's X-ray room.

It was revealed after the game that the quarterback is dealing with an ankle sprain which, seeing how the play unfolded, is the best case scenario. Many sports physicians were fearing an ankle fracture shortly after the play.

As Lawrence prepares to get an MRI scan on his leg on Tuesday, CJ Beathard looks like he will have to step in as the Jags starter.

Ironically, after the game, Trevor Lawrence did use a cart. After avoiding the press, he left the stadium and was driven to his car. Christian Kirk (with a groin injury) also left the stadium via a cart right next to him.
