Wide receiver Davante Adams has put to rest the ongoing speculation about a potential trade to the New York Jets to reunite with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The rumors have been circulating for months, but Adams has finally addressed them head-on.

Adams, who joined the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022 with a lucrative five-year, $140 million contract after being traded from the Green Bay Packers, has been linked to the Jets ever since Rodgers signed a three-year, $112.5 million deal with the team. The possibility of the former teammates reuniting has fueled media and fan speculation.

In an interview with Kay Adams earlier this month, Davante Adams acknowledged the rumors but emphasized his loyalty to the Raiders. "He's in that ear, that's for sure... It's not as easy, but obviously, we can get together and talk about the old times, and the potential of doing this and that, but I'm a Raider and he knows that," Adams stated.

Aaron Rodgers, speaking at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, added to the speculation when he responded to a fan's question about Adams by saying, "I can't wait to play with him... again."

However, Adams made his stance clear during a conversation with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay. When asked directly about the trade rumors, Adams responded, "Well, I'll answer it like this, if I'm gonna be reunited with anybody, it would be Aaron, or be relocated and be anywhere, it'd be with Aaron. But that's not really my... There was a lot of that stuff going on last year in the media and them asking, 'What are you gonna do about this? Are you thinking about going here?' And they talk about whatever without me even being involved in it."

Adams knows how detrimental rumors can be

Adams elaborated on the impact of the rumors within the Raiders organization, explaining, "It ended up getting all the way to the point where it got in the locker room, and people were thinking that I was the driving force, and I'm like, y'all just don't understand, man. When you're a certain level of player, it doesn't have to come from you, and most often it's not coming from you."

He further reinforced his commitment to the Raiders, saying, "I'm not the type of person that enjoys putting that type of stuff out there when I'm actively on the Raiders. What do I look like sitting here talking to other people about being on another team? I'm locked in with the Raiders, and I really feel good about this team, and as far as I know, they feel good about me."

Despite acknowledging the appeal of playing with Rodgers again, Adams emphasized his current focus on the Raiders. "I already know what that's like, which is similar to why I came here and reunited with Derek [Carr] because I had familiarity with him," he explained.

While Adams only played one season with Derek Carr before the quarterback's departure from the Raiders, he remains committed to his current team. The speculation about a reunion with Rodgers is likely to persist, but for now, Adams is focused on his role in Las Vegas.
