San Francisco 49ers' wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk, is set to leave the Levi's Stadium for good but where will he go?
Reports suggest the Cleveland Browns and the New England Patriots have made offers in an attempt to land the 26-year-old.
Aiyuk, who finished with 1,342 yards, 75 receptions and seven touchdowns in 2023 as he helped lead the 49ers to Super Bowl LVIII, is seemingly headed for new pastures as he breaks away from sharing snaps with Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffrey.
And he has multiple suitors, as NBC Sports Bay Area adds both the Browns and the Patriots are in the hunt, with the latter desperate for a receiver to offer an outlet to their 2024 NFL Draft pick Drake Maye.
In exchange the 49ers would receive Amari Cooper, whilst NBC adds the Patriots would send Kendrick Bourne, with the Californian team apparently happy to accept either.
The 49ers also heard offers from the Washington Commanders and the Pittsburgh Steelers too, who have both been counted out after the Commanders backed off and the Steelers refused to match the asking price.
Aiyuk's contract could be an issue
Aiyuk, who boasts career stats of 269 receptions for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns as he helped the 49ers win two NFC Conference Championships, is set to ask for a lot of money and it's the fault of the Minnesota Vikings.
The 26-year-old is on a salary of $14.1m but that could easily grow to well beyond $26.2m after Justin Jefferson's new contract broke the market when he signed a deal worth $35m per season on a four-year contract.
ESPN reports that Aiyuk has already rejected a $28.2m-per-year deal from multiple teams, suggesting he's valuing himself a lot higher following Jefferson's $140m ($110m guaranteed) deal.
