Who is Jackie Anderson? The woman stealing the spotlight at the Olympics from her husband, star of the USA volleyball team

One of Team USA's volleyball stars had to dip out mid-game to talk to his wife and keep her in check, so who exactly is Jackie Anderson? Meet the woman more important than a 2024 Olympic Games gold medal.

Matt Anderson, aged 37, is a legend within his sport and has claimed two FIVB World Cups, bronze at Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and bronze at the FIVB 2018 World Championship games since his debut in 2006.

The impressive amount of money Snoop Dogg has received for promoting games on NBC

Snoop Dogg and... The Olympics? The unlikely union has netted the hip-hop star some good cash as part of NBC's unique way of promoting the 2024 Paris Games, which also included Taylor Swift and Beyonce, but how much has he earned?

The 52-year-old from Los Angeles County in California jetted out to the City of Love in Europe to watch some events such as the women's gymnastics and beach volleyball sporting the United States' tricolor as well as NBC merch.

What drama!

Rebeca Andrade is the Olympic floor champion. Biles is second, but there's drama behind them. Jordan Chiles was put in fifth but after an appeal amidst the celebrations, her score was changed and she takes bronze for the USA and the Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu in third loses her medal.

Amid all that, the other Romanian had appealed her fourth place in the hope of getting third herself, but that was dismissed.

Final gymnast is Jordan Chiles of the United States of America, Biles now guaranteed a medal as she is still in the silver position, so that is No.11 in the bag.

Second for Biles!

Simone Biles goes into second with two gymnasts to go so that eleventh medal is not in the bag yet, but she's got silver as it stands.

Impressive from Biles

Simone Biles seems to have put the beam behind her as that was a superb floor display, although she did land just outside the square on two occasions which will count against her. We await the score...

Incredible from Andrade

Brazilian Rebeca Andrade has put in a superb floor routine there and she has set the benchmark with a score of 14.166.

Floor final begins

Plenty of the competitors from that dramatic beam final are in this floor final and the action is now underway. Remember, it is not implausible that this is the last time we see Simone Biles at the Olympic Games.

Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles celebrate Olympic victories with a risque Team USA photo

Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles continued their party at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris with a cheeky photo online as the pair celebrated their successes with Team USA, which included gold in the team's final.

Biles also went on to add the vault and all-around to her medal collection for her third Summer Games, whilst Chiles played her part in the team's win as well as making the final of the floor exercise too.

Floor final next for Biles

Whatever upset Biles during the beam final, she needs to put it behind her as the floor final is up next and she is hunting for that eleventh Olympic medal.

Controversy for Biles

There was something clearly angering Biles when she ended her routine, which is thought to be linked to the atmosphere in the arena and noise from the crowd. We may need to hear her talk before there is clarity on that.

Gold for Italy!

It seemed Andrade had nailed her routine but she is put in fourth. That puts Biles into fifth and it means that D'Amato wins the gold and there are two Italians on the podium.

No medal for Biles!

It's a 13.100 which puts Biles into fourth and she won't get a medal. Rebeca Andrade is now on the beam as the final competitor.

Biles falls!

Much of the routine was perfect but Biles did fall off the beam! She may not be getting an eleventh gold here.

Medal for Italy

Alice D'Amato has stormed into the gold medal position with a superb routine. Two more to go here, but D'Amato will get an unexpected medal. Here comes Simone Biles...

Plenty of mistakes

This beam final has been characterized by mistakes. The Chinese athlete made an error when she stepped up first but she is still in the gold medal spot with three to go. One clean routine will put someone at the top of the standings here and Simone Biles is yet to go.

Sunisa Lee struggles

Sunisa Lee has had her turn and she slipped off the beam towards the end of the routine which means she is going to struggle for a medal here. She is still smiling and has been embraced by other gymnasts. The score comes in at 13.100.

Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee in action

The women's beam final is underway and Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee are amongst the competitors. Brazil's Rebeca Andrade will also be in the hunt for the gold medal.

It has been an Olympics to remember for Simone Biles with medal after medal coming her way, and she is back in action for Team USA on Day 10.

She will be competing for gold in the women's balance beam finals and the floor finals very soon, with the first of those getting underway in about an hour.

Triathlon photo-finish

Here is that intense photo-finish between Team GB and Team USA which went the way of the USA, after Germany secured the gold medal.

Silver medal for Team USA

Team USA thought they had to settle for a bronze medal in the triathlon mixed team relay, but the photo finish was challenged and now the silver has been handed to the USA and Team GB will have to settle for bronze.

What can we expect on day 10 of the 2024 Paris Olympics?

On Day 10, the competition heats up across a variety of sports including artistic swimming, track cycling, sport climbing, and wrestling. Meanwhile, the badminton, basketball 3X3, canoe slalom, artistic gymnastics, shooting, and triathlon events reach their climactic conclusions.

A total of 20 medal events are scheduled for 5 August. Among the highlights is the men's pole vault final at 7 PM, where Mondo Duplantis will not only defend his Olympic title but also aim for a new world record.

Urban Sports and New Events

La Concorde will host the first urban sports medal event with the basketball 3X3 finals starting at 9 PM. The new kayak cross events will also award their inaugural medals at 4:55 PM. Additionally, the men's Boulder & Lead combined (10 AM) and women's speed (1 PM) sport climbing events begin, now separated from the combined event featured in Tokyo.

Football Semi-Finals

The men's football tournament advances to the semi-final stage, with matches hosted in Marseille and Lyon as four teams vie for a spot on the podium.

Top Picks for the Day:

Athletics (Track and Field): Mondo Duplantis' World Record Attempt

Duplantis is the overwhelming favorite in the men's pole vault. In 2024, only two athletes have cleared 6 meters or higher: Duplantis and the USA's Chris Nilsen. However, Duplantis leads with a world record of 6.24m set at the Xiamen Diamond League. The question is not if Duplantis will win, but whether he can break his own world record by clearing 6.25m.

Surfing: New Champions to Emerge

Adam Peaty Sparks Debate on Fairness After China's Controversial Olympic Win

In the high-stakes world of Olympic swimming, Britain's Adam Peaty has sparked a fierce debate about fairness and integrity following China's historic gold medal win in the 4x100 medley relay. This victory, which ended Team USA's four-decade streak, has been overshadowed by a resurfacing doping scandal involving Qin Haiyang, Sun Jiajun, and other Chinese swimmers from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Despite testing positive for a banned substance, these athletes were allowed to compete, with the China Anti-Doping Agency attributing the results to contaminated food, a conclusion upheld by the World Anti-Doping Agency. Peaty, whose team narrowly missed a medal, condemned the situation, emphasizing that "winning doesn't mean anything if you're not playing fair" and calling for stricter enforcement of anti-doping measures. His comments resonate with many in the swimming community, underscoring a broader concern about maintaining a level playing field and upholding the true spirit of theOlympics, where integrity and honor in competition are paramount.

Seine Pollution Forces Belgian Triathlon Team's Withdrawal

The Belgian Olympic triathlon team's dreams were shattered when Claire Michel fell ill after swimming in the heavily polluted Seine River, forcing their withdrawal from the competition. Despite a $1.5 billion cleanup effort, the river remained hazardous, causing health issues for multiple athletes. Michel's sickness became a symbol of the broader failure, highlighting the risks and raising questions about the efficacy of the massive investment. The incident underscored the unpredictable challenges of the Olympics, casting a shadow over the festivities and prompting a reevaluation of the Seine's suitability for future events.

Leigh Diffey's On-Air Mix-Up as Lyles Snatches Gold in Thrilling Photo Finish

The 2024 Summer Olympics' men's 100-meter dash was marked by an incredibly close finish and an unexpected reaction from legendary play-by-play announcer Leigh Diffey. As American Fred Kerley and Jamaican Kishane Thompson battled stride for stride, Diffey's commentary was focused on their duel. Meanwhile, Noah Lyles, initially trailing, made a stunning comeback in the final meters, which Diffey missed in the heat of the moment. Diffey prematurely declared Thompson the winner, only to be corrected by the photo finish revealing Lyles' victory by a mere five-thousandths of a second. The moment highlighted the intense pressure and unpredictability of live sports broadcasting, and Diffey's human error underscored the drama of Lyles' historic win.

Olympic Champion Ceccon Takes Park Nap Amid Village Complaints

Italian backstroke champion Thomas Ceccon, frustrated by the stifling heat and subpar conditions of the Olympic Village, found solace on a grassy patch with a towel and a tree. Saudirower Husein Alireza shared a photo of Ceccon's impromptu nap spot on social media, highlighting the less-than-ideal accommodations. Despite his gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke, Ceccon's dissatisfaction grew after failing to make the finals in the 200-meter event. He criticized the lack of air conditioning and poor food, comparing the experience to "trying to sleep in a sauna with bad cafeteria food." The International Olympic Committee faced backlash over the eco-friendly but uncomfortable cardboard beds, leading many athletes to seek refuge outside the village. The conditions became a hot topic, with even British and Australian athletes voicing their complaints, making Ceccon's makeshift outdoor bed a symbol of the broader issues plaguing the Games.

Despite a strong performance from Canada's Shay Colley, who scored 17 points, the Canadian team couldn't withstand Nigeria's relentless pressure and efficient shooting, sealing their fate at the bottom of Group B and highlighting D'Tigress' remarkable journey in the tournament.

Team USA's 3x3 Olympic Dreams Crushed by Netherlands

In a shocking turn of events at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Team USA's 3x3 men's basketball team suffered a crushing 21-6 defeat to the Netherlands, witnessed by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver at the iconic Place de la Concorde. Despite an early two-pointer from Dylan Travis, the U.S. team, missing the injured Jimmer Fredette and with only Canyon Barry, Kareem Maddox, and Travis available, struggled with disorganization, missed shots, and multiple turnovers. The Netherlands took a commanding lead, with Worthy de Jong's relentless scoring sealing Team USA's fate. In the aftermath, Maddox and Travis highlighted the lack of support and professional opportunities for 3x3 basketball in the U.S., underscoring the intense challenges they faced against a well-prepared Dutch team. Despite their elimination, Team USA's effort and determination on the Olympic court remain commendable, serving as a reminder of the fierce competition at the highest levels of international sport.

Fred Kerley finished third with 9.81, ahead of Akani Simbine and Olympic champion Marcel Jacobs. This race marked the closest finish since Moscow 1980 and showcased Lyles' dominance in sprinting since Usain Bolt's retirement, as he eyes more gold in the 200 meters.

Lewis Hamilton's Support Fuels Nyjah Huston's Paris Olympics Bronze Medal Win

The Men's Street Skateboard event at La Concorde Urban Park showcased Huston's daring moves and teammate Jagger Eaton's high-flying antics, earning them second and third place, respectively. Three Americans advance to 1500m final

Yared Nuguse was the fastest in the two semifinal heats with a time of 3:31.72. Hobbs Kessler was right behind him.

USA's Cole Hocker qualified in the other heat.

Photo finish needed to decide the 100m winner!

And it's Noah Lyles! He's done it!

What an incredible race. Thompson of Jamaica got off the line great, while Lyles was slow out of the blocks.

It was so close at the end that a photo finish was needed, with Lyles coming out on top with a time of 9.79 (9.784), just give-thousandths faster than Thompson.

Fred Kerley claims bronze for the USA in 9.81.

USA men bow out of 3x3 basketball

Team USA continue to dominate when it comes to 5x5 men's basketball, but the same can't be said for the 3x3 team.

They finished the pool round with a record of 2-5 meaning they won't advance to the knockout round.

After losing its first four games, the team strung together two wins. However a disappointing 21-6 defeat to the Netherlands dashed any hopes of moving on.

Lyles through to the 100m final

It's time for the men's 100m semi-finals. The top two per semi-final, and the next two fastest, make the final which is set to go tonight at around 3:50 pm ET.

South Africa's Akani Simbine and Botswana's Letsile Tebogo qualify from the second semi-final with times of 9.87 and 9.91.

That means that defending champion, Italy's Marcell Jacobs, and USA' Kenny Bednarek are on the bubble after finishing with times of 9.92 and 9.93.

Kishane Thompson of Jamaica and Fred Kerley of USA qualify from the third semi-final. Thompson finished with a time of 9.80, while Kerley in 9.84.

USA women cruise to victory over Germany

Upset gold medal for Team USA in women's road cycling

A huge shock and a surprise gold medal for the USA in women's road cycling as Kristen Faulkner surged ahead of the competition in the closing stages to claim gold.

Faulkner was not a favorite heading into the competition, but she ended up coming out on top at her first Olympics. She didn't even qualify for the race and was only added to Team USA at the last minute.

Netherlands' Marianne Vos and Germany's Lotte Kopecky took home silver and bronze respectively.

USA take control against Germany

After starting slow out of the gates, the USA are now in control against Germany. Courtesy an 11-0 run that relied on improved shooting and stronger defence, the Americans now lead 41-29 at halftime.

A'ja Wilson shook off a slow start, as her and Breanna Stewart lead the way with a combined 19 points.

Alcaraz disappointed but proud

Carlos Alcaraz came up just short in his final with Novak Djokovic, but he was still proud at taking home a silver medal.

"I am a little bit disappointed but I'm going to leave the court with my head high. I gave everything that I had. Fighting for Spain was everything for me. I'm proud of the way I played today."

Gold for Novak Djokovic!

He's done it. The Serbian has finally added that coveted gold medal to his stellar resume by taking down Carlos Alcaraz in two sets.

Novak has already hinted that this will be his last Olympics, but in his fifth attempt he finally takes gold. He had to work for it though, as Alcaraz went down by fighting but ultimately coming up short 7-6, 7-6.

Lee rises to the occasion in Biles' absence

Kaylia Nemour of Algeria delivered the country's first gold medal in gymnastics, putting together a thrilling routine in the uneven bars final on Sunday to edge Qiu Qiyuan of China.

Sunisa Lee of the U.S. picked up her third medal in Paris and sixth of her Olympic career by grabbing bronze, exactly where she finished in Tokyo three years ago.

Suni Lee takes bronze

The anxiety was palpable in the arena as Suni Lee embarked on her mission to land a medal in the uneven bars, but she held her nerve to claim bronze.

She managed to earn a 14.800 to gain her second consecutive bronze in the event.

Qiu Qiyuan takes the lead on uneven bars

Qiu Qiyuan is now top of the leaderboard in the uneven bars. She may have found it tough during Thursday's all-around final, but she is back on song today, earning a 15.500 to put her ahead of Nina Derwael (Belgium).

Why Biles is not competing in the uneven bars final

Team USA is pursuing another gymnastics gold today, in the uneven bars final, with all hopes placed on Suni Lee to bring back the medal.

After the qualifiers, Lee is in third place with a score of 14.866, behind Kaylia Nemour in first and Qiu Qiyuan in second.

The reason why Simone Biles will not be there is because, although she did take part in the uneven bars during the individual all-around final, she failed to qualify by the slimmest of margins: just a tenth of a point.

That resulted in a ninth place finish, ruling her out of today's final, unless Sunisa Lee were to suffer an injury, whereby Biles would step in as first reserve.

Djokovic wins the first set!

After an enthralling first set, that eventually had to be decided by a tie break, the Serbian has come out on top to take the lead in this excellent match.

All hopes on Suni Lee to land gold

Team USA is pursuing another gymnastics gold today, in the uneven bars final, with all hopes placed on Suni Lee to bring back the medal.

After the qualifiers, Lee is in third place with a score of 14.866, behind Kaylia Nemour in first and Qiu Qiyuan in second.

Djokovic holds after suffering five break points

It looked as though Alcaraz was about to break Djokovic and make it 5-4 and serve for the first set, but the Serbian managed to resist. Alcaraz played some quite fantastic shots in that game, but it wasn't enough.

Alcaraz and Djokovic survive break points

Djokovic currently leads 3-2. In the last two games, the pair have saved numerous break points to keep themselves on par. Alcaraz was 0-40 down on his serve, before rallying back to win the game, before Djokovic survived various breaks of his own to put himself momentarily ahead.

Alcaraz and Djokovic face off for gold

In a repeat of last month's Wimbledon final, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are facing off at Roland Garros' Philippe-Chatrier court, this time competing for a gold medal.

Biles reveals why she is considering 2028 Olympics appearance

Simone Biles continues to dominate gymnastics at the 2024 Olympic Games in France but the big question is will she be at Los Angeles 2028 as the star continues to hint at retirement at the age of 27.

She appeared to hint that this would be her final tournament after being hotly pursued by Rebeca Andrade and Suni Lee, but now she seems to have u-turned on the thoughts and hasn't ruled out competing in Los Angeles in 2028 when she will be 31.

"Never say never,' Biles told media on August 3. "The next Olympics is at home [USA], so you just never know. But I am getting really old."

When and where to watch Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee in action

Following this first Olympic gold in the team event, Simone Biles continued to build her legacy by winning her second gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the individual artistic gymnastics final. USWNT hang on in the end

Not the most convincing performance from the USWNT, but it doesn't matter as Trinity Rodman's extra-time goal was enough to give them a 1-0 win over Japan.

That means they are through to the semi-finals, where they will face one of Canada or Germany on Tuesday.

The USA had most of the possession in the match, but they just couldn't' create anything clear cut in the final third. In the end it was a moment of magic from Rodman that sends them through.

Her two faults give her an average of 14.966, but that score isn't enough to better to Biles' 15.3. All signs point to the American adding another gold medal today.

No goals between USA and Japan

The USWNT are having a tough time breaking down Japan in their quarter-finals matchup so far. After finishing the 90 minutes without a goal, the match is now in extra-time.

There were goal-mouth scrambles for both sides, while the USWNT saw a penalty shout turned away before Japan came close to snatching an unexpected opening goal.

What a first vault from Biles!

And she delivers with her second vault attempt as well.

The recent Olympic opening ceremony has sparked controversy, particularly over a performance featuring the Greek God Dionysus, which some critics claim mocked the Last Supper. Despite denials from the ceremony's director, Thomas Jolly, the debate continues, with prominent figures like Joe Rogan vocally criticizing the event. Rogan argued that the Olympics exploit athletes while profiting immensely from television and advertising revenues that do not benefit the participants. He described the Olympics as a "giant scam," highlighting the disparity between the substantial financial gains of the organizers and the lack of compensation for the athletes. The ongoing controversy raises questions about the financial structure and fairness of revenue distribution in the Olympic Games.

French swimming sensation Leon Marchand is set to compete in the 200m Individual Medley final tomorrow, August 2, at 2:43 PM ET, at the Paris 2024 Olympics. With a combination of power and precision, Marchand aims to further solidify his legacy as a top international swimmer, and all eyes will be on him as he strives for another gold medal.

Simone Biles Wins Gold, Flaunts 546-Diamond GOAT Necklace

Simone Biles, the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history, secured another accolade by winning the women's individual all-around gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, outperforming Brazilian rival Rebeca Andrade and fellow American Suni Lee, who took bronze. Biles, 27, celebrated her victory by unveiling a new diamond-encrusted goat necklace, symbolizing her status as the greatest of all time (GOAT), crafted by Janet Heller Fine Jewelry with 546 diamonds. Her performance, marked by a rare error on the uneven bars, was redeemed with stellar routines on the beam and floor, leading to her ninth Olympic medal and marking a redemption arc after her withdrawal from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to the "twisties." This victory also highlighted the first time since 2016 that two American women, Biles and Lee, stood on the podium in the all-around event.

IOC Reaffirms Commitment to Fair Play After Khelif's Controversial Victory

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif's swift victory over Italy's Angela Carini sparked significant controversy due to Khelif's previous sex test failure. Carini, emotional and injured, withdrew just 46 seconds into the fight. Despite Khelif's triumph and support from figures like Ismael Bennacer, backlash ensued, with critics including J.K. Rowling and Liz Truss. The IOC and the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit issued a statement affirming the right of all athletes to compete without discrimination, emphasizing compliance with regulations. The IOC also addressed misinformation and reiterated its commitment to safeguarding athletes' human rights. As debates on fairness and eligibility continue, Khelif's story remains a focal point of Olympic discussions.

Boxer Imane Khelif at Center of Olympic Fairness Debate

The Paris Olympic Games have been rocked by controversy, particularly in women's boxing. The match between Algerian boxer Imane Khelif and Italian Angela Carini ended abruptly when Carini, hit significantly by Khelif, chose not to continue after just 46 seconds. The controversy centers on Khelif's masculine appearance, with allegations on social media that she is a transgender woman, raising questions about fairness due to her high testosterone levels. Khelif, who has Swyer Syndrome, possesses XY chromosomes but has female reproductive structures. Criticism has come from various celebrities, including American swimmer Riley Gaines and English writer J.K. Rowling, who argue that Khelif's participation is unfair and endangers female athletes. This incident, along with similar cases, has sparked intense debates about the inclusion of athletes with masculine traits or male chromosomes in women's sports.

Paris 2024: U.S. and Morocco Clash in Olympic Quarterfinal Showdown

The men's soccer quarterfinals of the Paris 2024 Olympics kick off on Friday, August 2, with Morocco facing the U.S. at Parc des Princes. This match marks the start of an action-packed day that includes Japan vs. Spain, Egypt vs. Paraguay, and a headline clash between France and Argentina, a rematch of the last World Cup final. Team USA enters the quarterfinals after bouncing back from an initial 3-0 loss to France, securing victories over New Zealand and Guinea. Morocco also showed resilience, notably defeating Argentina 2-1 in a historic win, before advancing with a solid performance against Iraq.

China Leads Medals Table, USA in second

Team USA have moved up to second in the medals table, thanks in part of Simone Biles' gold medal performance in the all-around gymnastics final. While Katie Ledecky became the most decorated female Olympian of all time with her silver in the 4x200-meter relay.

The United States leads in total medal count with 37, while China leads in gold medals with 11. France, Australia, Japan, and Great Britain follow in the rankings.

1. China: 24 medals (11 Gold, 7 Silver, 6 Bronze)

2. USA: 37 medals (9 Gold, 15 Silver, 13 Bronze)

3. France: 27 medals (8 Gold, 11 Silver, 8 Bronze)

4. Australia: 18 medals (8 Gold, 6 Silver, 4 Bronze)

5. Japan: 16 medals (8 Gold, 3 Silver, 5 Bronze)

6. Great Britain: 20 medals (6 Gold, 7 Silver, 7 Bronze)

Team USA Holds Off Belgium in Women's Basketball

The U.S. women's basketball team held off Belgium with an 87-74 victory, moving to 2-0 in group play.

Despite the final score, the game was tightly contested. Belgium put up a strong fight against a USA team that hasn't lost in Olympic play since 1992. Emma Meesseman starred for Belgium, scoring 24 points.

The U.S. frontcourt proved dominant, with Breanna Stewart and A'ja Wilson combining for 49 points. Wilson scored 23 points, hitting 8-of-12 shots after starting 1-for-5.

Belgium impressed, backed by a supportive crowd in Lille, a short train ride from Belgium.

The U.S. will face Germany next on Sunday.

Katie Ledecky Wins 13th Medal, Most Ever for Female Olympian

Katie Ledecky earned her 13th Olympic medal, the most ever for a female Olympian, as her 4x200-meter relay team finished second behind Australia on Thursday.

The American team, consisting of Ledecky, Claire Weinstein, Paige Madden, and Erin Gemmell, took silver in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay, placing ahead of third-place China.

Three years ago in Tokyo, China won gold, the U.S. took silver, and Australia claimed bronze.

At 27, Ledecky now holds the record for the most swimming medals won by a woman in Olympic history. Just one day earlier, she won the 1,500-meter freestyle in Olympic-record time, securing her eighth gold and 12th overall medal. No other female swimmer has as many gold medals as the Bethesda, Maryland native.

USA Leads Belgium After Third Quarter

Belgium is giving Team USA a tough challenge, capitalizing on 15 turnovers and moments of defensive disarray from the Americans.

Despite this, Team USA holds the lead going into the fourth quarter, thanks to key back-to-back shots from Napheesa Collier that disrupted Belgium's run.

Belgium star and former WNBA All-Star Emma Meesseman leads all scorers with 20 points, but her team trails 60-53.

Breanna Stewart has been dominant from the start, leading the U.S. with 19 points.

USA Takes Halftime Lead Over Belgium

The USA leads Belgium 46-38 at halftime after a tied first quarter. The U.S. led by as many as 13 points in the second period. Breanna Stewart leads with 15 points, while A'ja Wilson, after a slow start, added six points in the second quarter, making three of her five field-goal attempts.

Belgium is proving more challenging than Japan, with their center duo of Emma Meesseman and Kyara Linskens combining for 18 points and holding their own against the U.S. team.

U.S. Women's Basketball Team Level With Belgium

After one quarter, Belgium is giving the U.S. women's basketball team a tough battle, with the score tied at 23.

The size advantage the U.S. had against Japan is less significant against Belgium. Breanna Stewart is dominating the frontcourt with 11 early points, while A'ja Wilson is still finding her rhythm, with four points on 1-of-5 shooting.

Belgium's balanced attack has four of their five starters scoring at least four points each.

Kate Douglass Wins First Career Gold

American Kate Douglass clinched her first career gold medal by winning the 200-meter breaststroke, upsetting South Africa's Tatjana Schoenmaker, the winner of the 100-meter breaststroke.

Despite Schoenmaker closing in fast, Douglass, from Pelham, New York, had just enough to hold her lead.

Tes Schouten of the Netherlands took the bronze, while Lily King from Evansville, Indiana, finished in eighth place.

Riley Gaines lashes out at Imane Khelif's controversial 2024 Olympics victory

The controversy surrounding the Algerian boxer, Imane Khelif, continues to rage on at the 2024 Olympic Games as Riley Gaines weighs in by saying her fights are, "glorified male violence against women."

Khelif, who was banned from a previous boxing competition after being told she has XY (male) chromosomes, has been permitted to compete by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) although the board has not revealed which categories were met.

Simone Biles wins gold at all-around finals

Simone Biles remains peerless. Even when she's not quite perfect.

The American gymnastics star edged Brazil's Rebeca Andrade during a tense Olympic all-around final on Thursday. Biles' total of 59.131 was just over a point ahead of Andrade at 57.932, one of the closest calls Biles has ever endured at a major international event.

Sunisa Lee, the Tokyo Olympics champion, earned bronze despite spending much of the last 15 months dealing with multiple kidney diseases that left her return to the Games very much in doubt.

BILES WINS GOLD

Simone Biles has done it again. After having to pull out of the individual all-around event in Tokyo due to struggles with the "twisties," Biles has reclaimed her gold-medal status, just days after leading Team USA to gold in the team event.

Biles now owns 6 Olympic gold medals and has become the first gymnast to win two Olympic all-around championships non-consecutively. She is also the only American to win the Olympic all-around more than once.

Rebeca Andrade of Brazil, Biles' top competition, walked away with silver, repeating her finish from Tokyo in the all-around. American Suni Lee secured the bronze medal.

Andrade Takes the Lead with Floor Routine

Andrade is set to be back on the podium. Despite stepping out of bounds--the same mistake that cost her the gold in Tokyo--the reigning silver medalist is assured a medal in the Paris all-around.

The Brazilian breakout star impressed with her routine to BeyoncƩ's music, earning a score of 14.033.

Now, the final standings hinge on one last performance from Biles.

Lee Secures Another Olympic All-Around Medal

Suni Lee, the reigning all-around champion, has just completed the event final for the second time in her career. To surpass Alice D'Amato and secure the bronze medal position, she needed to score at least 13.535 on her floor routine.

Lee delivered an impressive performance, scoring 13.666 and guaranteeing herself another Olympic all-around medal, following her gold in Tokyo. She flashed a huge smile after sticking her first tumbling pass, signaling her success.

Andrade Holds Second Place After Beam

Rebeca Andrade, despite a few wobbles, managed a solid beam routine with a score of 14.133, placing her second after three rotations. Simone Biles could be heard cheering her on, and the two shared a hug after Andrade's dismount.

Andrade needed a score higher than 14.299 to overtake Biles but fell short. Now, the top two competitors will leave it all on the floor in the final rotation.

With one more chance to secure a medal, here are the current standings after three rotations:

1 Simone Biles (USA)

2 Rebeca Andrade (Brazil)

3 Alice D'Amato (Italy)

Lee Stays in Podium Contention

Suni Lee managed to stay on the beam, despite a few wobbles and broken connections, including one on her iconic ring leap where she arches her back and loses sight of the beam. Although it wasn't her most secure performance, she earned a respectable score of 14.000.

While this score is slightly lower than what she achieved in Tuesday's team final, it keeps her firmly in the race for a podium finish.

Biles Nails Beam Routine

Simone Biles needed to deliver on her beam routine, and she did just that. As the reigning champion in this event, she scored an impressive 14.566, moving back to the front of the pack after a below-average bars routine had left her in third place after the first two rotations.

Her flawless switch leap entrance set the stage for a routine with minimal mistakes. Now, with only the floor routine left, Biles can focus on securing another gold medal.

Biles down to third

With two rotations down and two to go, here are the current leaders:

1 Rebeca Andrade (Brazil)

2 Kaylia Nemour (Algeria)

3 Simone Biles (USA)

Biles, Lee, and Andrade are now heading to the challenging balance beam.

Despite being in the bronze medal position after the second rotation, Biles holds a difficulty advantage on the beam and floor. As the reigning world champion in both events, she has a strong chance of winning gold if she performs to her potential.

Andrade Challenges Biles with Stunning Bars Routine

Rebeca Andrade showcased her determination to compete for gold with a flawless bars routine, hitting her handstands and nearly sticking the landing with a smile. She scored an impressive 14.666, putting pressure on Simone Biles to beat that score and regain the lead. Had Andrade achieved this score in the qualifiers, she would have made the bars final.

Simone Biles encountered difficulties in the second rotation with a major form break during a Pak salto transition from the high bar to the low. Despite managing to stay on the bar, she received a significant deduction, scoring 13.733. This places her behind Andrade as they move on to the balance beam.

Biles begins quest for gold

Reigning champion Lee scores a 13.933 after a small hop on the landing, which isn't too bad given the vault is her weakest event. Rebeca Andrade earns a 15.100 and Biles makes it 15.766 to give herself a small buffer.

Women's gymnastics all-around final LIVE now

The competition has begun for Simone Biles and Sunisa Lee as they face off against each other and 22 top gymnasts in the individual all-around final.

In addition to Team USA's reigning champs--Biles, who won gold in Rio, and Lee, who took gold in Tokyo--watch out for strong contenders like Rebeca Andrade from Brazil, Kaylia Nemour from Algeria, and Qiu Qiyuan from China.

The spotlight will be on the showdown between Biles and Andrade, who are battling for the top spot in today's meet.

Suni Lee wades into Simone Biles-MyKayla Skinner feud

Simone Biles has one vocal ally in Team USA as Suni Lee backs the 27-year-old in her feud with MyKayla Skinner after the duo claimed gold despite being accused of lacking the desire to bring success back to the United States at the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Biles, Lee, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles and Grace McCallum troop claimed gold in the team's finals to take their first medal of this year's games back home before competing in a series of events through August 1-5 after they beat Italy by over five points.

And although Skinner had attempted to apologize for her comments in the build up to the Summer Games, Biles and Lee are not in the habit of preaching forgiveness as they chose to hit back at her.

Team USA 3x3 Basketball Struggles

Team USA's 3x3 women's basketball team is now 0-3 after a 17-15 loss to Australia on Thursday morning. Previously, they lost to Azerbaijan and Germany, placing them last in their group of eight teams.

With only the top two teams advancing to the semifinals and the next four entering the play-in games, the U.S. women need a win soon. They will face Spain later on Thursday.

The men's 3x3 team is also facing difficulties. Jimmer Fredette and his teammates are 0-2 and must win their matchup against Lithuania later today.

Team USA Reaches Final of Women's Team Foil Event

Team USA has secured at least a silver medal in the women's team foil event after defeating Canada in the semifinals.

The U.S. women have excelled in the foil events at the 2024 Olympics, with Lee Kiefer and Lauren Scruggs winning gold and silver in the individual events earlier this week. They are joined by Jacqueline Dubrovich in the team event.

Team USA will compete against Italy in the gold medal match at 2:30 p.m. ET.

When can you watch Simone Biles today?

For all you Simone Biles fans out there, the legendary gymnast will be in action in the women's gymnastics individual final starting at 12:15 PM ET. And you can follow all the action on NBC, as well as here on MARCA.

The opponent of the boxer who failed gender tests retires 46 seconds into bout at the Paris Games

The Paris Olympics have seen their share of controversies, with the boxing discipline being no exception. Recent debates have centered around the participation of Imane Khelif from Algeria and Lin Yu-ting from Taiwan.

Both athletes were previously disqualified from the 2023 World Cup due to having XY chromosomes, typically associated with men, whereas women usually have two X chromosomes.

Khelif has faced criticism, particularly from Italy, where her participation has been labeled as unfair and factually incorrect articles have been written.

Italian boxer Angela Carini expressed her discontent after their match, which ended abruptly 46 seconds in when Carini withdrew, visibly distressed.

She was seen mouthing "Mi ha fatto malissimo" ("It hurt me a lot") and repeatedly said "it's not fair" following the bout. Carini refused to shake hands with Khelif, highlighting the ongoing controversy.

The match began with a powerful right hand from Khelif that disrupted Carini's helmet, leading to Carini's quick decision to end the fight and express her frustration to her team.

Lin Yu-ting is scheduled to fight Uzbekistan's Turdibekova on Friday. Despite high testosterone levels found in tests, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has permitted her participation.

Coco Gauff 'embarrasses' Andy Roddick in a way the young tennis player never expected

Known for her remarkable skill and maturity on the court, Coco Gauff continues to impress fans and former professionals alike. Recently, former tennis star Andy Roddick shared his admiration for her accomplishments and character.

During the July 30 episode of the "Served" podcast, Roddick, along with co-host Jon Wertheim, discussed various topics, including the Paris Olympics and the performances of young athletes.

Roddick has expressed his admiration for Gauff on other occasions as well. During a discussion on the Tennis Channel Live Podcast on June 21st, he praised her performance at the Ladies Open, where she faced a challenging match against Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Roddick highlighted Gauff's resilience and composure under pressure, qualities that have become hallmarks of her game.

"She is a grown-up," Roddick said.

"Like, I am embarrassed for the 20-yo version of myself whenever am around her.

"Honestly. She is phenomenal, she is intelligent, she is talented and confident...She is just great.

"You can also see her teammates, don't regret her, like generally, they like her. They really, really do and I think it's just a huge deal for tennis to be friend-setter."

Olympic star reveals what's in the boxes medalists receive instead of flowers at the Olympics

Fans have been curious about the contents of the distinctive gold boxes awarded to medalists at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Australia's canoe slalom champion Jessica Fox has provided the answer in a recent TikTok video. Unlike the traditional floral bouquets, these boxes contain a unique memento for the athletes.

Fox, who has become the most decorated athlete in her sport, responded to a fan inquiry with an unboxing video. The box contains a rolled-up print of the official Paris Olympics poster, elegantly embellished with gold embroidery, making it a special keepsake for the medalists.

Fox's performance at the Paris Olympics has been outstanding. She secured a gold medal in the women's kayak slalom event and later added another gold in the women's canoe final.

"I don't know how I did that, the atmosphere was incredible," she said.

"I looked out and I saw so much green and yellow - so many Aussie flags and I think that was the best run I've ever done.

"I knew once I had got through the hard moves, it was about trying to get to the finish and holding it together and wow!"

Coach of Noah Lyles' rival criticizes him for using mind games on 'rivals' at Paris Games

Noah Lyles has set his sights on winning the 100m gold medal at the ongoing Paris Olympics. Known primarily for his success in the 200m, Lyles has recently made a strong case for himself in the shorter sprint, following his World Championships triumph last year. However, he will face significant competition from Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson, among others.

Thompson has recently made headlines with his outstanding performance at the Jamaican Olympic Trials, where he clocked an impressive 9.77 seconds, the fastest 100m time recorded since the 2022 World Championships.

Francis noted that Lyles, who holds world titles in both the 100m and 200m, often engages in psychological tactics aimed at unsettling his opponents. However, Francis believes that the depth of talent in the field this year might mitigate the effectiveness of such strategies.

"I think you will find he plays mind games with those he is faster than," Francis said.

"I don't think he will have the opportunity this time around, but we will see if his mind games works on people who have demonstrated they are a lot faster than he is."

Katie Ledecky and Leon Marchand beat all the problems of the French pool: shallow and slower

An interesting aspect of the swimming competitions at the Paris Olympics might be affecting the athletes' ability to set new records. The temporary pool constructed at La Defense Arena in Nanterre, a Paris suburb, is under scrutiny for potentially influencing swimmers' performances.

The current discussion revolves around the pool's depth, which is 2.15 meters. This depth, while above the Olympic standard of two meters, falls short of the 2.5 meters minimum recommended by World Aquatics.

This discrepancy is notable when compared to the pool used during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, which was over three meters deep (approximately 10 feet), as noted by The Athletic.

"It's absurdly slow," an anonymous swimming official told Sports Illustrated.

"It lacks depth, but it also has strange levels. And when you have a shallow pool with as many underwater cameras as we now have, it doesn't help settle the water."

The reality of Tinder in the Olympic Village...

American rower Emily Delleman has revealed details about the use of Tinder, the world's most-used dating app, in the Olympic Village during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris... the City of Love.

For the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the organization has distributed more than 30,000 condoms and provided the Olympic Village with cardboard beds that have been dubbed "anti-sex beds". The claim that the beds are "anti-sex" has been debunked many times, and not just at this specific Games.

Emily Delleman, who is part of the U.S. women's quadruple scull team, has recorded a video that has gone viral on TikTok (bordering on 4 million views) to reveal the true reality of Tinder during the Olympic Games.

"I'm in the Olympic Village right now and so far most things have exceeded my expectations. The food, the vibe, the atmosphere... it's crazy. Everything but this... The other day I was lying on my cardboard bed, recovering like it's my job, because it is. And I was browsing TikTok and I saw girls saying "hey, change your geolocation to the Olympic Village, you want some first division 'babies'?" and I was like "oh my god, genius. You need to make the most of this.""

Emily Delleman took the plunge and downloaded Tinder: "I hadn't downloaded this app in years, so I go to the app store and they're promoting it like 'match' with professional athletes using our new feature."

"So I start sailing and I don't see any Olympic athletes. I thought okay, my setup must be weird. No. I'm within a mile radius and so far I think I've seen a total of two other Olympic athletes."

Triathlon hell at the Paris Games: "I threw up 10 times"

Tyler Mislawchuk, a triathlete from Canada who participated in the triathlon at the Paris Olympic Games won by Englishman Alex Yee, vomited 10 times after crossing the finish line of a swimming event in the Seine River.

"Did I vomit once? No, I threw up 10 times... The last four kilometers were deadly and I started feeling sick and very hot," revealed the Canadian triathlete, who finished ninth with a time of 1:44:25, in front of the television cameras.

Tyler Mislawchuk acknowledged to the cameras that "I gave it all I had. I came from breaking my Achilles heel, trauma, sprains... I'm proud of what I did".

As the sun sets on Day 5 of Paris 2024 we look forward to the action of Day 6, and the women's individual all-around final in artistic gymnastics promises a thrilling showdown. If either clinches gold, they join the legendary ranks of Larisa Latynina and Vera Caslavska as two-time Olympic all-around champions. Yet, Brazil's Rebeca Andrade stands poised to disrupt this American hegemony with her dynamic routines, making tonight's competition one of the most anticipated and potentially historic events of the Games.

China's Quan and Chen Secure Seventh Consecutive Olympic Gold in 10m Synchro Dive

Quan Hongchan and Chen Yuxi of China clinched the gold medal in the women's 10m platform synchro event at Paris 2024, maintaining China's dominant streak in this discipline with a score of 359.10 points. This victory marks China's seventh consecutive Olympic gold in this event since its introduction in 2000. Beaugrand expressed disbelief at her victory, calling it a dream come true. Derron, motivated by the enthusiastic crowd, finished at 1:55:01, and Potter, who previously competed in the 10,000m at Rio 2016, made history as the first Olympic athlete to compete in both events.

USWNT's Unbeaten Streak Continues with 2-1 Win Against Australia

The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team (USWNT) clinched a 2-1 victory over Australia in their final group stage match of the 2024 Paris Olympics, setting a new record with nine goals in the group stage and securing a place in the quarterfinals against Japan. This victory, marked by goals from Trinity Rodman and reserve midfielder Korbin Albert, saw the USWNT win all three group matches for only the second time in history, reminiscent of their 2012 gold-medal run. Despite Australia's late push and stoppage-time goal by Alanna Kennedy, the USWNT's offensive prowess, led by Rodman and Sophia Smith, was decisive. However, coach Emma Hayes highlighted the need for continued improvement, especially with the suspension of key defensive midfielder Sam Coffey and potential absence of center-back Tierna Davidson due to injury, necessitating tactical adjustments for the next match.

Booed in Paris, Joel Embiid Rises to the Challenge at the 2024 Olympics

Joel Embiid, the former NBA MVP and Philadelphia 76ers star, has been in the spotlight during the Paris 2024 Olympics. Despite initially planning to play for France's national team, Embiid ultimately committed to Team USA, leading to tensions with French fans who even booed him during warm-ups before Team USA's game against South Sudan. This uproar began when Embiid, who obtained French citizenship in 2022 and U.S. citizenship months later, chose between representing France or the United States, as his native Cameroon failed to qualify. Since arriving in Paris, Embiid has faced constant criticism, with French basketball president Jean-Pierre Siutat claiming the team helped him acquire a French passport after he expressed a desire to represent Les Bleus. However, Embiid maintained he never formally committed to playing for France, explaining to the New York Times that his choice was influenced by personal and political reasons, particularly the strained relationship between France and Cameroon. The climax of this tension occurred before the U.S.-South Sudan game when Embiid, greeted with boos, responded by urging the fans to boo louder, surprising the French crowd and garnering cheers from U.S. fans. Despite the controversies, Embiid and Team USA remain undefeated and favorites to win gold, with Embiid's impact and ability to handle pressure proving undeniable. His response to adversity in Paris showcases his character and determination as Team USA continues their quest for Olympic gold.

Alcaraz Set for High-Stakes Rematch Against Tommy Paul in Paris

Carlos Alcaraz, after defeating Roman Safiullin in the fourth round, is set to face Tommy Paul in the Olympics quarterfinals. Both players have not dropped a set, with Paul seeking revenge following his Wimbledon loss to Alcaraz. This will be their first encounter on clay and the sixth meeting overall, with Alcaraz leading their head-to-head 3-2. Alcaraz, the second seed, and Paul, the only remaining American in the singles draw, will play without rest, having competed in both singles and doubles matches. Their quarterfinal match is scheduled for Thursday, August 1, with broadcasts available on NBC and Peacock, and live updates on MARCA.com.

USA lead from start to finish

A strong first quarter (26-14) set the USA on their way as they ran out 103-86 winners over South Sudan on Wednesday.

While the two teams were involved in a nail-biter in a pre-tournament exhibition, the Americans controlled today's game with Adebayo leading the way with 18 points.

Durant chipped in with 14, and LeBron added 12 as the USA improved to 2-0. Jayson Tatum, who didn't play against Serbia, finished with just four points, while Joel Embiid didn't play a single minute.

USA closing in on victory

Around five minutes left in the USA-South Sudan game, and barring a comeback of epic proportions, the Americans will improve to 2-0 as they lead 87-70.

U.S. women fall in 3x3 basketball

Not what the USA were hoping for when it comes to the women's 3x3 basketball, as they suffered their second straight loss.

Azerbaijan got the better of the defending Olympic champions, winning 20-17. The team is made up of Cierra Burdick and Haley Van Lith, who were part of the 2023 3x3 World Cup, as well as WNBA All-Star Rhyne Howard and Los Angeles Sparks forward Dearica Hamby.

One quarter left as USA still lead

South Sudan actually outscored the USA in the third quarter (21-18), but it's the Americans still out in front 73-57.

Adebayo has increased his tally up to 16, with Durant sitting on 11 and James and White on 10.

South Sudan will need a mighty effort in the fourth quarter if they are to deny the USA a second straight win.

USA keeping South Sudan at bay

Halfway through the third quarter and it's still USA with a healthy 60-46 advantage over South Sudan.

The good news for the Americans is that Anthony Davis returned to the floor after leaving the game in the second quarter with a possible ankle injury.

Davis started in place of Joel Embiid.

USA in control against South Sudan

The Americans are making it look easy against South Sudan, heading into the break with a 55-36 lead.

Bam Adebayo leads the way in terms of scoring with 14 off the bench, followed by LeBron James with 10. Kevin Durant also has 9 off the bench, while Jayson Tatum, who didn't play a minute against Serbia, is scoreless.

There is one concern for the Americans though, as Anthony Davis limped off with what looked to be an ankle injury. He suffered the injury while going up for a shot.

Gold for Ledecky!

What a performance from Katie Ledecky as she takes gold in the women's 1500m freestyle and sets a new Olympic record!

She wins with a time of 15:30.02, with Kirpichnikova of France delighting the home fans by finishing 10 seconds back for silver.

Gose of Germany rounds out the podium in third.

USA dominant against South Sudan so far

It's been all USA so far after one quarter against South Sudan. Steve Kerr's men are currently up 33-14, with Kevin Durant picking up where he left off as he already has 9 points.

LeBron James has 8, while Derrick White has chipped in with 4 off the bench.

Huge upset in tennis!

And there we have it! Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram of the USA are through to the next round after shocking Spain's Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz 6-2, 6-4 in the men's doubles quarterfinals.

That might be the last time we see Nadal in Paris, as he has been noncommittal on his playing career beyond 2024. As for Alcaraz, he has the U.S. Open next month.

However when it comes to Krajicek and Ram, they are through to the semi-finals.

Kennedy slashes the lead

Might be too little too late for Australia, as Alanna Kennedy makes it 2-1 in injury time. Australia need another goal if they have any hopes of making it through to the next round.

The one goal is all they get though, as the USWNT hold on to take the 2-1 victory and make it 3 wins from 3 matches. Team USA will play Japan in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

LeBron James and U.S men's basketball gear up for South Sudan clash

Team USA will have a new starting lineup as they take on South Sudan in just a few minutes.

Jayson Tatum and Anthony Davis are in, with Jrue Holiday and Joel Embiid dropped to the bench.

That means the starting five is Stephen Curry, Devin Booker, Tatum, LeBron James and Davis.

Don't forget that Tatum didn't play a single minute in the opener against Serbia. USA also played South Sudan in exhibition action earlier this month, winning 101-100.

GOAL USWNT!

Korbin Albert fires home from outside the area, as the USWNT double their advantage and look on course to make it three wins in as many matches with a little less than 10 minutes remaining.

That is Albert's first international goal.

Silver medal for Torri Huske in 100m freestyle

A close finish in the women's 100m freestyle, but in the end it's world record holder Sarah Sjƶstrƶm who beats out Torri Huske of the USA for the gold medal.

USWNT still out in front

Still 1-0 for the USWNT, as they opened the second half by threatening for a second.

Hayley Raso fired an attempt from outside the box for the Australians that was saved as they look to keep their Olympic hopes alive.

In the other Group B match, Germany lead Zambia 3-1 which means they are on course to finish second.

Nadal and Alcaraz up in the second set

Nadal and Alcaraz have stepped up their game in the second set, and currently hold a 3-2 lead over Krajicek and Ram.

A reminder that the Americans currently hold a 1-0 set advantage.

No medals for USA in men's all-around

No medals for Team USA in men's all-around, with Juda and Richard both finishing well down the standings.

In the end the gold goes to Oka Shinnosuke of Japan in what is a bit of an upset.

1 Oka Shinnosuke (JPN) 86.832

2 Zhang Boheng (CHN) 86.599

3 Xiao Ruoteng (CHN) 86.364

USA with the advantage over Spain

A bit of surprise over on the tennis courts as Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram currently have the surprise lead over Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.

The Spaniards just never got going in the first set, with the American coming out on top. Second set action is already underway.

USWNT lead at the break

After a lengthy 10 minutes of added time in the first half, USWNT head into the break with the lead thanks to Rodman's goal.

Australia's coach Tony Gustavsson was shown a yellow card after arguing over the VAR review of the USA's goal. Ultimately, the goal was looked at and allowed to stand.

GOAL USWNT!

It's Trinity Rodman who opens the scoring just before half-time.

Sophia Smith provides the assist, with Rodman then firing home her second goal of the competition

USWNT with another chance

After Mary Fowler sent a shot wide of the mark for Australia, it's Swanson with a great chance from close range.

However she sees her effort saved as the game remains 0-0 after 34 minutes.

USWNT piling on the pressure

Sophia Smith, Trinity Rodman, and Mallory Swanson have all seen attempts on goal just come up short.

It's a big game for Australia as they need a win if they are to finish in the top two. As things stand they are third on four points, as Germany sit second with six points as they currently lead Zambia 1-0.

Podium unlikely for Team USA in men's all-around

With just two rotations left, it doesn't look like a podium is likely for Team USA. Juda is down in 18th while Richard is just behind him in 20th.

Costly booking for Coffee

The USWNY have already clinched a spot in the knockout stage, but they will no doubt be keen to close out Group B with a win over Australia.

Not the best of starts however as Sam Coffee is shown a yellow for an early tackle. It means she will miss the next match.

Juda and Richard continue their push

Richard's puts in a strong showing on the vault, earning a score of 14.100 despite a small hop which knocked off three-tenths.

Juda gets a solid 13.866 on parallel bars, but still has to take on the pommel horse as we now head into the fourth rotation.

Evy Leibfarth takes home bronze in canoe slalom

Despite not entering the Paris Games with high hopes, the USA have secured a medal in canoe slalom thanks to Evy Leibfarth.

The 20-year-old barely made the final after finishing with the 12th fastest time in the semis. However, she beat that run by almost eight seconds to finish with a 109.95 in the finals. She then watches in suspense as the final runners headed out, before celebrating her bronze.

Fort-time Olympic medalist Jessica Fox dominated to win her fourth straight gold for Australia, with Elena Lilik of Germany getting the silver.

Another shaky showing from Juda

Despite sticking his fault in Monday's team final, Juda didn't have as much success in the event today

He stepped out bounds after completing a crooked landing, which means an automatic three tenth deduction. In the end he receives a 13.733.

As things stand Juda is down in 17th, with Richard just behind him in 18th.

Juda shows composure on the rings

After a tough start for Richard, Paul Juda comes out strong on the rings.

Although he ran into some problems on the dismount, he saved his showing thanks to a few arm swings. Juda's score is now in and he starts with a solid 13.433.

Tough start for Richard

Frederick Richard begins the day on the pommel horse, and it's a tough start for the American as he fell off the platform early.

With a score of 12.733 it means Richard must be close to perfect the rest of the day to earn a medal.

Team USA to compete in men's all-around final

Paul Juda and Frederick Richard will look to take home a medal for the USA as they will compete in the men's all-around final.

The competition will begin in just a few minutes.

Jahmal Harvey through to the quarter-finals

American Jamal Harvey booked his spot in the quarter-finals after defeating Brazil's Luis Gabriel Oliveira in a close men's featherweight encounter.

Harvey came out on top 3-2 after a dominant showing in the final round. He will next fight in the quarter-finals on Saturday.

Gauff and Pegula out of women's doubles

Tough day for Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula, as they were defeated by Team Czechia in the second round of women's doubles.

The No.1 ranked duo lost the final set in a tie-breaker, which means Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova are through to the next round.

It means that Gauff only has mixed doubles left it she wants to win a medal at the games.

Ledecky in action later today

Katie Ledecky will be looking to win her eighth gold in the 1,500-meter race. She looks to be in great form, progressing to the final with a time almost 18 seconds ahead of the nearest swimmer.

The women's and men's 100-meter freestyle and men's 200-meter butterfly are also scheduled for today.

Alcaraz through to the quarter-finals

Carlos Alcaraz is through to the quarterfinals after defeating Roman Safiullin in straight sets.

With the backing of the fans at Roland-Garros, this year's French Open winner made quick work of the Russian playing as an Independent Neutral Athlete.

Alcaraz will now play Lorenzo Musetti in the quarter-finals.

Dunne shared her excitement with a TikTok video from her seat, cheering on Biles and the team with the caption: "GO USA RAHHH."

Dunne, who was part of LSU's national championship-winning gymnastics team last year, expressed her admiration and support for Biles, the most decorated Olympic gymnast in U.S. history after this victory.

"We're super excited. We're honored to represent the US every time we get on a world stage but accomplishing that gold and that goal was just an amazing feeling," Biles said.

"But I think for everybody it's what we came here to do. And we're super excited to walk away with that gold medal."

Sha'Carri Richardson, closer to winning a medal

Shericka Jackson of Jamaica said Wednesday she will not run in the 100 meters when Olympic track starts, clearing away one of the sprinters who had been expected to give Sha'Carri Richardson her toughest competition in the sport's marquee event.

Jackson did not go into details when she confirmed she would focus only on the 200, which is typically her better event.

The opening round for the women's 100 is Friday at the Stade de France.

Jackson pulled up with a leg cramp at an Olympic tuneup race in Hungary earlier this month, but her coach, Stephen Francis, told the Jamaica Gleaner website this week that "she appears OK to me."

"Chomping. I want to do the chomping of the gold medals," Biles said.

Lee added: "Okay. And I want to do the one that says, 'imagine what we would do if we didn't win'."

Yet, all controversies faded as Team USA's women etched their names in Olympic history, a testament to their grit and Memmel's leadership, proving that every painful decision is a step towards greatness.

Simone Biles' Messy Bun Highlights Paris Olympic Struggles

Simone Biles led Team USA to a gold medal in the team gymnastics competition at the Olympics, despite facing significant challenges due to the environmentally conscious measures implemented in Paris. The Games, committed to being the greenest ever, have introduced eco-friendly initiatives like cardboard beds and a lack of air conditioning in the Athlete's Village, which have proven difficult for athletes amid a heatwave with temperatures exceeding 90Ā°F. Biles, now 27, highlighted these issues on Instagram, noting the discomfort caused by the lack of air conditioning, which even affected her appearance, leading to an uncharacteristically messy bun during the competition. To cope, Team USA provided portable air conditioning units for their athletes, a move followed by other countries. Despite these adversities, Biles' leadership and the team's resilience shone through, culminating in their outstanding performance and victory.

USA Defeats Serbia to Open Group Play

Team USA kicked off their gold medal defense with a commanding 110-84 win over Serbia in their group play opener.

Kevin Durant and LeBron James led the charge, scoring 21 and 23 points, respectively. Durant was particularly impressive, making 8-of-9 shots in his first game after missing exhibition play due to a calf injury.

Serbia's three-time NBA MVP Nikola Joki tallied 20 points, eight assists, and five rebounds, but the team struggled against the depth of USA's NBA talent. Their impressive performance has been crucial in overwhelming Serbia with the USA's depth. Nikola Joki has been outstanding for Serbia, recording 16 points, five assists, and three rebounds, but it's not enough against the stacked U.S. roster.

Notably, Jayson Tatum has yet to enter the game. The Boston Celtics star and 2024 NBA champion hasn't seen any action through three quarters, with no injury reported. Coach Steve Kerr seems to be opting for more defensive options, giving Jrue Holiday and Derrick White more playing time instead.

With Durant back after missing the tune-up play due to a calf injury, Kerr prefers less ball-dominant players on the wing. It will be interesting to see how he continues to manage the roster, given the depth and talent available.

Serbia struggled when Nikola Joki was on the bench, highlighting the depth issue against the USA. Joki has been instrumental, scoring 12 points and dishing out four assists, while dominating his matchups against the U.S. bigs, including Joel Embiid, who hasn't been at his best.

Interestingly, with Durant back, Jayson Tatum seems to be out of the USA rotation for now.

Nadal wins third set to advance

Nadal advances in the Olympic tournament after a hard-fought 6-4 victory over Fucsovics in the final set of their match today.

Playing on the red clay of Roland Garros, Nadal's experience from his 14 French Open titles proved invaluable. He started strong in the first set, but Fucsovics challenged him fiercely in the second and third sets, leading to an exciting back-and-forth battle.

The depth of Team USA is proving to be a major advantage, with Kevin Durant coming off the bench. Serbia's offense struggled when Nikola Joki was off the floor, and the USA capitalized on this.

It's been an entertaining and physical battle, with the refs allowing both teams to play tough. Notably, Jayson Tatum has yet to enter the game as Steve Kerr works out his rotation.

USA back into match

The U.S. has stormed back against Serbia with two Devin Booker threes and a LeBron James and-1. Initially down 10-2, the U.S. went on a 12-2 run to take a 14-12 lead. LeBron James in transition is proving to be a major problem for international opponents.

Following a U.S. timeout, Anthony Davis has replaced Joel Embiid.

Nadal loses second set

MƔrton Fucsovics delivered an impressive rally at the start of the second set, ultimately defeating Rafael Nadal 6-4. After losing the first set, the Hungarian came out strong, forcing Nadal to respond with a determined effort. Spectators chanted Nadal's name as he fought back in the ninth game, but Fucsovics persevered, winning the set and equalizing the match as they head into the third set.

One of those looking to spoil the party for the US is a well-known star to American audiences. Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets has arguably been the best player in the NBA in recent years and will be hoping to guide his nation to a shock victory.

Chellsie Memmel, the US women's technical lead for gymnastics, was proud of her team's performance today despite some hiccups early on, namely when Jade Carey had a bit of a stumble in her attempt.

Memmel praised the team spirit and unity as all performers played their part in a successful showing.

"I think they rallied together, I think that says the strength of their team bond, just that they came together, they turned the page after floor and rallied around each other. Tech company withdraws advertising from Olympics after opening ceremony

Atech company's decision to withdraw its advertising from the 2024 Paris Olympics has drawn attention following a controversial performance at the opening ceremonies. C Spire, a telecommunications and technology company based in Mississippi, announced on Saturday morning that it was cutting ties with the event.

The announcement came shortly after a performance featuring drag queens and dancers, which was perceived as a parody of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper."

Support for Biles from Carly Patterson

Carly Patterson, the first American woman to win the Olympic all-around title in a non-boycotted Games, publicly supported Simone Biles in an interview as she returns to the Olympics after deciding to drop out of the Tokyo Games. Patterson, who was present at the recent US trials, spoke about the immense pressures faced by top gymnasts and emphasized the importance of mental well-being.

"It's hard to say because, like I said, I've never really felt that and been in that place mentally," Patterson told EssentiallySports.

"I would like to have been faster, so just a little disappointed that I could not bring my best today," Ledecky said. "But a medal is a medal."

After successfully defending her gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle against McIntosh and Ledecky, Titmus reflected on how her first victory prepared her for this one.

"I know what it takes to be an Olympic champion," Titmus said. "The noise, atmosphere, and village life make performing well hard, but I'm really happy to come out on top."

The three-time gold medalist also praised her rival swimmers, particularly Ledecky.

"We have a pretty good relationship outside the water. I definitely don't see my rivalry with her as anything but racing. I really respect her as a person," Titmus said of the American legend.

USMNT 4-1 New Zealand

The USMNT secured a crucial 4-1 victory against New Zealand on Saturday, scoring three goals in the first half and adding another in the second before New Zealand managed to score. The win was essential, as a loss would have nearly eliminated the USA from advancing to the knockout round, relying on a Guinea upset over France to progress.

With this victory, the USMNT remains in contention and can advance to the next stage of the Olympic tournament if they beat Guinea in their next group stage match.

The USA moved into second place with the win, while New Zealand dropped to third based on goal differential. New Zealand faces France next, where they will be the underdogs.

Saturday's game saw a complete turnaround for the USA, who scored three goals in the first 30 minutes, a stark contrast to their 3-0 defeat against France. It was the first time in over two decades that the USA had scored three goals in an Olympic match, and they went on to score a fourth for the first time in Olympic history.

The USMNT's final group match is on Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET.

Ledecky can only take bronze in 400m Freestyle

Ariarne Titmus from Australia, Katie Ledecky from the USA, and 17-year-old Summer McIntosh from Canada, who hold the 27 best times in history, went head-to-head in the event where all three have been world record holders.

Titmus set the current world record in Fukuoka last year with a time of 3:55.38.

Ledecky was only able to secure the bronze in the women's 400-meter freestyle, one of the most anticipated events of the Paris Games.

Having won gold in Rio and silver in Tokyo, this is her third Olympic medal in the event - the most by any athlete.

She faced off against world-record holder and defending champion Titmus, who took gold. McIntosh from Canada earned the silver.

Ledecky will have more chances to win medals in Paris as she aims to tie or break the record for the most medals won by an American woman, which currently stands at 12.

Gretchen Walsh sets OR in 100-meter butterfly semifinal

Gretchen Walsh started tonight's swimming events with a spectacular performance, winning the women's 100-meter butterfly semifinal with an Olympic record time of 55.38 seconds.

USMNT 4-1 New Zealand

Is the comeback on? New Zealand has reduced the USA's lead to 4-1 in the second half of their match.

Jesse Randall scored in the 78th minute, putting New Zealand on the board after the USMNT netted the first four goals.

This goal is significant as it brings the USA's goal differential back to zero. The USMNT had a positive differential following their four-goal surge, but it was initially set back by their 3-0 loss to France on Wednesday.

USMNT 4-0 New Zealand

The USA extended their lead to 4-0 over New Zealand in the 58th minute of their match on Saturday.

Paxten Aaronson scored with a left-footed shot, deflecting off a New Zealand defender, after receiving a pass from Griffin Yow.

Having scored three goals in an Olympic match for the first time since 2000, the United States has now set a new record with four goals in a single Olympic match. The USMNT netted three goals in the first half and continued their dominance into the second half.

France wins first gold at Olympic Games

The Olympic hosts have secured their first gold medal of Paris 2024, defeating defending champions Fiji 28-7 in an exhilarating rugby sevens final.

France initially trailed in the first half at the Stade de France but quickly equalized. They took the lead early in the second half with a brilliant run by star player Antoine DuPont.

Coming off the bench at halftime, DuPont became central to France's efforts, even scoring a try himself.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis vs Nikola Jokic

Why does Jokic have the upper hand? Because in the past 13 matchups between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers have a dismal 1-12 record since 2022.

This marks a clear dominance by Jokic over both Anthony Davis and LeBron James. It's worth noting that few teams have been able to outperform the Nuggets since 2022.

Additionally, less than two weeks ago, the U.S. defeated Serbia with a stellar performance by Steph Curry, securing a 105-79 victory.

USMNT 3-0 New Zealand

The USMNT is dominating New Zealand. The United States surged to a 3-0 lead in the 30th minute when Gianluca Busio followed up his own rebound with a successful right-footed shot just outside the penalty box. This is the first time the USA has netted three goals in an Olympic match since the 2000 Sydney Games.

USMNT 2-0 New Zealand

The USA takes a 2-0 lead over New Zealand just 10 minutes into their critical match on Saturday. Walker Zimmerman scored in the 10th minute, following Djordje Mihailovic's penalty in the 8th. Zimmerman connected with a pass from Mihailovic, striking the ball into the middle of the net. The U.S. desperately needs a win after a 3-0 loss to France on Wednesday.

USMNT 1-0 New Zealand

The USMNT has taken an early lead in a crucial match against New Zealand. Djordje Mihailovic scored a penalty in the 8th minute, putting the USA up 1-0. This match is vital for the U.S., which needs a win to stay in contention for the knockout stage after a 3-0 loss to France in their opener.

Key USMNT soccer match

The USMNT faces a crucial match on Saturday. After a 3-0 loss to France, the U.S. must win against New Zealand to stay in contention. Currently last in Group A with a -3 goal differential, the U.S. would need France to lose to Guinea to advance if they lose to New Zealand.

Represented by its U23 team, the U.S. failed to score in their opener against France, conceding three second-half goals. New Zealand is second in Group A after defeating Guinea. The match kicks off at 1 p.m. ET.

Why was Simone Biles missing from Olympics Opening Ceremony?

American viewers watching the Paris Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony noticed the absence of a key athlete: Simone Biles.

Among over 500 American Olympians introduced on a giant boat, the four-time Gymnastics Gold Medalist was missing.

Speculation quickly spread on social media, especially given that high-profile athletes like LeBron James attended and even served as America's flag bearer.

The absence of such a prominent figure led to many questions.

Simone Biles is not injured, nor is she making any political statement. Her parents clarified during the NBC broadcast that Biles and the women's gymnastics team were excused from the ceremony to rest for their first competition on Sunday.

"The first competition is Sunday, which is a women's qualifier, so of course, she needs to rest up before that competition," explained Nellie Biles, Simone's mother.

"I spoke to her this morning, and she's doing great. She's just in a really good place."

Chiefs kicker Butker and his LGBT problems after opening ceremony

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker appears to chase controversy. The 29-year-old American evidently loves the sound of his own voice and feels the need to share his opinion on everything, even when nobody really wants to hear it.

Having recently drawn attention and deserved criticism for sexist comments made while speaking as a guest during a university graduation ceremony, Butker has sought to annoy yet more people.

Now, it is the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris that has his attention, and he is unhappy with the involvement of drag queens, it seems.

A group of drag queens channeled the last supper during the ceremony, with them appearing similar to how Jesus Christ and his twelve apostles are depicted in Leonardo Da Vinci's famous work.

"This is crazy," Butker posted to Instagram, along with a screenshot of the scene.

He then cited Galatians 6:7, adding: "Be not deceived, God is not mocked."

Butker, then, is evidently a man who takes his catholicism very seriously without being a very accepting man.

In footage captured by BBC Sport, the dancer kicking one leg in the air before losing balance and falling backward behind a speaker, landing flat on his back.

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) announced Friday (26 July) that the American had submitted a new element, a Weiler-kip with a one-and-a-half pirouette (540 degree turn), for evaluation on the uneven bars. A Weiler-kip is where a gymnast circles the bar forward before shooting up to a handstand. If she were to perform the Weiler one-and-a-half successfully in Paris, it would be her first eponymous element on uneven bars and give her at least one signature element on each apparatus.

The WNBA rookie was looking very stylish courtside, wearing a pink Balenciaga outfit before going into a black dress.

The star of the show on the court was the Las Vegas Aces' A'ja Wilson who posted a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Olympic veteran Breanna Stewart of the Liberty contributed 15 points, six rebounds and five assists.

"We need to continue to make sure our starts in the third get better every single game," said U.S. forward Stewart. "It's a tune-up game. We don't want to peak too soon."

It was thankfully a much smoother night for Reese than the WNBA All-Star game where she had a distressing incident with a fan.
