Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas is certainly regarded as one of the most entertaining players on the current circuit, but it is more down to the drama that he provides and brings with him rather than his skill.

He has struggled to impress at the Canadian Open, being knocked out in the round of 32 by Japanese player Kei Nishikori.

As per, though, the focus is more on his family rather than what he actually did on the court in Toronto.

He got brave in 2020 and spoke publicly about how he would like his mum to interfere less in his career, saying: "My mum, she knows a lot about tennis. Sometimes it can be a bit complicated when she wants to give her own opinion or advice direct to me, then have my dad tell me something else."

A tough family dynamic

Soon after, his mum actually invaded one of his post-match press conferences. The video from 2020 of his mother putting him on the spot and questioning him about player's who have benefitted from their parents intervention and that video has now resurfaced.

This is not the first time that Tsitsipas has clashed with his parents publicly. While performing at the French Open's second-round match, the World No. 11 lost his temper after his father attempted to intervene and offer his advice after the Greek had lost a crucial break point to Daniel Altmaier. An irked Tsitsipas unleashed on Apostolos, angrily instructing his father to "shut up."

Tsitsipas announced his split with his father as coach on Friday, showing that the family dynamic is not fixed and there will almost certainly be more drama on the way.

The Greek said that "there were many mistakes and errors on the part of my coach and father".
