News Articles

I’m looking for an article online. Where is it?

Our website contains articles and photos by the staff of the Marin Independent Journal, and also those produced by the Associated Press and our sister publications in DigitalFirst Media. Some articles that appear in our print edition cannot be published online for legal and copyright reasons. You may subscribe to the full print edition either on paper or electronically to see what is edited for traditional publication.

To locate any article, first try searching, using the search window in the masthead of any page. Sort the results by date to locate the article. Articles published before August 2006 are generally available via a paid archive search. The word “generally” is used since we didn’t put everything online back then.
If you still can’t find what your looking for, try performing a Google “news” search. Google continually indexes over 4,500 online news sources, including the IJ. If an article appeared on a newspaper or wire service web site, chances are good that you’ll be able to find it this way. Results can be sorted by relevance or date.

What do I have to do to get a back issue or article?

If you would like a copy of an article, you may be able to purchase a past issue by calling Customer Service at 415-937-7222. You can pay in advance by credit card or check. Or, you can visit the main branch of the Marin County Library at the Civic Center in San Rafael. They archive a copy of the paper every day. You can also get an electronic replica of the paper delivered to your computer. Click here for more information.

How do I order a photo from today’s paper?

First, use the search feature on our SmugMug affiliate page at mng-marin.smugmug.com. If the photo you are looking for isn’t there already, you may request a copy by emailing [email protected]. Only IJ staff or freelance photos are offered for sale.

How do I submit a photo for publication?

The IJ welcomes reader-submitted photos, especially from breaking news events. Email large-scale jpg files to [email protected].

Classifieds

How often are the Classifieds updated online?

There’s a 4 p.m. deadline for calling in classified ads every weekday, and they go online after midnight. Generally speaking, they’re updated daily, and what appears in the paper each day appears online.

What do I do if I can’t find my ad?
