Submitted Content for Mass Transit Magazine

Jan. 1, 2021

We always welcome contributed content to Mass Transit. Below are some general guidelines. For additional information or questions not answered here, you can email [email protected]

Contributed Article

If you are interested in contributing an article, email the topic/angle and the main points you plan on covering. Upon receipt it is reviewed and we will discuss any questions or concerns we have and then let you know of our thoughts of where it would be a good fit and what we would need from you.

Format

All articles should be submitted via e-mail in Microsoft Word format. Features should be roughly 750 to 1,200 words. Photos should be sent as image files, such as jpg, pdf or eps. No photos should be embedded in the document.

Content

Mass Transit expects its writers to maintain a stance of neutrality within their articles; no proselytizing or veiled marketing will be accepted. Content from outside authors will be held to the same standard as the brand's staff written articles. With the exception of press releases, contributed content should not be published previously.

Articles should be written in third person.

Mass Transit edits copy to AP Style.

Photos

Articles should be included with one image for every 500 words or, at the very least, an illustration suggestion. Submitted photos are also considered part of the work-for-hire as per the writer’s agreement. Photos should not be embedded in Word documents; send as jpegs or tiffs and include captions for submitted photos.

Writer’s Agreement

All writer’s agreements are to be signed upon receiving them; stories are unusable without a signed agreement. All writers’ agreements are work-for-hire with Mass Transit gaining sole rights over the article.

External Links - Editorial Content Only

External links will be included if they provide additional educational insight into the article. Marketing-focused links, such as to product pages or company home pages, are not allowed within editorial contributions. External links should not be viewed as an endorsement by Mass Transit or its parent company.

Contributed Blog/Op-Ed

If you are interested in contributing an opinion piece, you can send it directly to us. Upon receipt of the submission, you will receive confirmation and when it is planning to run.

Transit agencies, government, industry associations and other public, community focused entities can send press releases to any team member and they will get forwarded along or submit to [email protected].  Please include a high-res photo if possible.

All news is published at the editors' discretion.

If a guarantee is needed, please contact the Mass Transit's multimedia account executive or sales representative to discuss paid options.
