Michigan High School Basketball - Cody succumbs to Mumford
December 13, 2011: Detroit, MI 48221 The Mumford Mustangs topped the visiting Cody Comets basketball team by a final score of 39-25 in Tuesday's league game.
In their next game, the Mustangs face the Western International Cowboys (Detroit, MI) in a Detroit Public - West game, on Friday, December 16. Mumford will attempt to move on its 2-0 season record. The Cowboys enter the game with a 0-1 record after their 80-31 league loss to Cass Tech (Detroit, MI).
With the defeat, Cody moves to 0-1 on the year. The Comets host Northwestern/Detroit Collegiate Prep (Detroit, MI) to face the Colts in a Detroit Public - West game on Friday, December 16. The Colts enter the game with a record of 0-2. Northwestern/Detroit Collegiate Prep lost 88-55 in their recent league game against Ford (Detroit, MI)
First Quarter
We (Cody) got off to a good start and actually lead the first quarter until a late run by Mumford. But for the most part the quarter was played pretty even with unforced turnovers by both teams.
Second Quarter
The second quarter really hurt, we only scored 2 points and gave up 14 straight and fell to far behind early in the quarter and our inexperience really showed cause our kids had a hard time trying recover.
Third Quarter
Third quarter we came out with more engery but simply could not hit any shots. But our lineup change really gave us more.
Fourth Quarter
Fourth quarter was a continue of the third, we had energy but couldn't make the shots that we look for.
