Softball Recap: Cooper Jaguars vs. Grant County Braves

After flying high against Ryle last Thursday, Cooper came back down to earth. The Cooper Jaguars fell just short of the Grant County Braves by a score of 9-7 on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Cooper of the 7-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Ava Scott and Emory Sullivan did some serious damage despite the final result: Scott scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Sullivan scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Sadie James, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Cooper has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season. As for Grant County, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-6.
