2023-24 MaxPreps Sophomore All-America Team: Brandon McCoy of St. John Boso headlines high school basketball's best from the Class of 2026

Alijah Arenas, Caleb Holt, Jalen Montonati and Tyran Stokes join California star on first team.

Our look at high school basketball's best from the 2023-24 season continues with the MaxPreps Sophomore All-America Team, highlighted by National Sophomore of the Year Brandon McCoy of St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.).

McCoy averaged 18.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game for the No. 25-ranked team in the MaxPreps Top 25. The 6-foot-4 guard led the Braves to the Division I state championship, producing 18 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in the title game.

Considered the top-ranked prospect in the Class of 2026 by 247Sports, McCoy joins a list of past winners that includes Jayson Tatum, Jalen Green, R.J. Barrett, Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga.

Selections are based on team success, individual production and local, regional and state honors from the recently-completed season. Potential at the college and professional level is not a primary consideration. Players in post-graduate or non-scholastic programs are not eligible for inclusion.

Averaged 13.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game to help the Crew (33-6) finish the season ranked No. 4 in the final National Top 10 and earn an invitation to Chipotle Nationals. Stokes showed potential as a point-forward on a loaded roster.
