Recap: Mercy Jaguars vs. Sacred Heart Valkyries

The Mercy Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 85-40 loss at the hands of Sacred Heart. Mercy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-20.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sacred Heart to victory, but perhaps none more so than ZaKiyah Johnson, who scored 19 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amirah "Tootie" Jordan, who scored 16 points along with eight steals.

Mercy has not been sharp recently as the team has lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for Sacred Heart, they pushed their record up to 20-7 with that win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Mercy will take on Christian Academy-Louisville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Christian Academy-Louisville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Sacred Heart, they will be playing at home against Simon Kenton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
