OAKLAND — A 24-year-old man was shot Monday night in West Oakland, authorities said.

The man was in stable condition Tuesday at a hospital, where he was being treated for a wound to his leg.

The shooting happened about 7:13 p.m. Monday in the 3100 block of Filbert Street.

Police said the man was standing outside when a car stopped and the two occupants got out and began shooting at the man. The suspects then fled in the vehicle southbound on Filbert Street.

The wounded man was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Dozens of shell casings were recovered at the scene. Some homes in the area were hit by stray bullets but no one else was injured, authorities said.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation. Detailed descriptions of the suspects were not released.
