RICHMOND — A 30-year-old man has been sentenced to 13 years and eight months in state prison for killing a 59-year-old woman he allegedly solicited as a prostitute.

Jacobo Gil-Arvizu, of San Pablo, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter, assault and false imprisonment in the 2022 death of 59-year-old Sheila Green. He was initially charged with murder but that count was dropped as part of a plea deal with Contra Costa prosecutors.

Gil-Arvizu was transferred from county jail to prison last month, and is currently being housed at Pleasant Valley State Prison in Coalinga, records show.

Green was found dead from stab wounds on the evening on June 6, 2022 at 24th Street and Esmond Avenue in Richmond. Police said at the time that Gil-Arvizu picked her up, discussed a sex-for-money exchange, then accused her of stealing from him and attacked her.

Gil-Arvizu was arrested at his San Pablo home a week later, and has been behind bars ever since.
