2024 construction is underway

Construction in Minneapolis on Lake Street between France Avenue and Hiawatha Avenue started in April 2024.

What is the METRO B Line?

The METRO B Line is a planned bus rapid transit line that will provide faster and more reliable transit service in the Route 21 corridor along Lake Street and Marshall and Selby avenues. 

Bus rapid transit brings better amenities, faster service and a more comfortable ride.

Project schedule

  • 2020: Project station locations approved
  • 2021-2023: Design of stations and other improvements
  • Spring 2023: Construction starts on stations and improvements east of Hiawatha Avenue
  • Spring 2024: Construction starts on stations and improvements west of Hiawatha Avenue
  • June 2025:  B Line service begins
